What is the significant difference between a proper party and a necessary party? It seems as though all proper parties are necessary parties

In a title to land dispute for instance, the adverse party contending your title with you is a necessary party, without him, the court cannot make a decision, and he's not bound by whatever decision is made behind him. He is crucial, he is your defendant. A proper party however could be your boundary man, whom you can sue to answer questions of boundary just to strengthen your case. Better?

Can you please explain how a guardian can be a party to a suit on behalf of a minor

The guardian must submit a written authorization for this role at the court's Registry. A motion ex parte is made to the court, praying the court for an order to represent the minor as the 'next friend'. Support the application with an affidavit and an exhibit and a written address. See Order 15 Rule 9 and 10 High Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019
