I'm just an average person, of course. But George is literally the only white, Western man I have ever heard who could sing Hindi, spiritual music with a technique that is faithful to the art, and faithful to the religion, and do it justice. People often give him a bad rap for his vocal abilities. Listen to him sing a traditional, Indian, Hindi song. It's breathtaking. What a truly loving, and wonderful soul.

Come on. Who criticized George's singing? Of course there may have been a few outliers, I'm sure there are a few people who criticize Ella Fitzgerald's singing. But most agree that his harmonies with the Beatles were exquisite and he used his voice exquisitely on many tracks with the Beatles and in his solo career. The one exception I will give you is that during the period of 1973 1974 when George was doing a lot of cocaine and he had lost his voice almost completely for a few years that his voice suffered. But other than that almost everyone agreed he had a wonderful voice

You get a very different take on all this watching Peter Jackson’s Get Back documentary. I think the Yoko Ono/Lennon vs McCartney feud etc is largely fantasy. It’s pretty obvious in Get Back that they were amazing friends, simply heading in different creative directions. And that’s borne out by their different foci in the years afterward.

Absolutely. In many respects John almost seems to be more enamoured with Paul than with Yoko, which quite surprised me. Obviously they had some sort of personal falling out around 1967-68, but I think that occurred mostly under the surface rather than in the form of some specific event. Brian Epstein's death, their chaotic trip to India and individual existential crises during the period all seems to have put their friendship to the test and cause a lot of misunderstandings and miscommunications about the bond that they shared. Yoko seems to be a response to not only John's desperate need for total love, respect and attention but also a direct shot at Paul who he felt wasn't fully reciprocating John's strong feelings. I don't mean that in a romantic sense or anything, just that John was a very damaged individual who craved someone in his life that showered him with complete adoration and attention due to the death of his mother. Mix all of that with the Alan Klein fiasco and John's jealousy over Paul's growing talents and leadership and you have a recipe for disaster.

I’m reading all the comments and so many have bad feeling towards this one or that one, why? The Beatles as a band changed music and with that they changed the world! Blaming any one of them for the break up is unfair. Just like when a marriage goes bad, the relationship between the Beatles changed and the break up was their divorce! It wasn’t any one person in particular that caused it. When George quit during the get back sessions John and Paul together convinced him to come back and finish the album. If any of the Beatles was shortchanged it was Ringo, the soul of the group, he kept the timing and created rhythms that only work for the song they were playing! Let’s give the negative vitriol a break and just sit back and be amazed by what they created together! After the break up they each have/had great solo careers as well! I am just a fan, I am amazed at the riffs played by George and John on the guitar, the rhythm laid down by Ringo and of course the bass riffs and keyboards from Paul and John! Ringo left in 1968 due to bruised feelings and thinking he was no longer needed; he was enticed back. George walked out a few months later when Lennon was disrespectful about his songwriting talent. But none of these walkouts would have ended the band. It was only Lennon's (or McCartney's) departure that would have finished the group.

Most who went to that Plastic Ono concert in Toronto, deemed it a huge disappointment. They were hoping for some Beatles, or at least John doing Beatle songs, not throwing up and lurching around the stage to "Cold Turkey" and Yoko cackling full throttle. Yuck. It was actually awful but hey, it was a chance to see the Beatles, who hadn't toured in 4 years. Sept. 15, 1969. Local paper: “They revived Rock n Roll despite John Lennon’s wife. It’s hard not to conclude, even with the best will in the world that John Lennon hasn’t saddled himself with an awkward, demanding, difficult and weird partner and co-leader in his current musical enterprises.” Jack Batten, Toronto Star. This nameless distracting woman now had to be tolerated because she was “John Lennon’s wife” - a newly exalted position she splashed into the PR pool with mere weeks earlier with her attention seeking “honeymoon” nabbing front pages for two weeks on two continents.

Only McCartney 1970 LP can be compared to the Beatles' records. It's serious, it's atmospheric, it has great songs. Wings albums are easy listening music even if it makes sense. Paul wrote all his great songs in the 60s. And in John's albums after 1972 there is a lack of ideas. As if he was forcing himself to be silent. To sum up, Paul's music after his departure from the Beatles became similar to many other things. John's music remained Beatle-like, but triviality and even borrowings appeared in it (Starting Over).

Revolution No.9 was ridiculous and overly indulgent. A much better use of the minutes would have been to put more George songs on The Beatles Double White Album, llike Sour Milk Sea, and Not Guilty. George was once asked what it ws like being in a band with John and Paul, and he said something like, what would it be like to be with the two biggest egos in the world? George was not treated as an equal due to too much false ego from John and Paul. George matured as a song writer, but they didnt recognize this. No wonder he didnt mind ending the band..

It sorta finished the white album in a sublime fashion that although isn’t a song per se, is an expression of avant garde art that puts the album into somewhat a mystical realm. Hi guys, George joined up with John & Paul shortly after Paul's first meeting with John Lennon, at a village fete, where John was playing with his mates as 'The Quarry Men'. Paul's mate, knew John, so invited Paul along, where he introduced Paul to John. As Paul is a left handed guitarist, & going back to those day's, Paul had already mastered the guitar, by learning to play a right handed guitar, in the upside down position, so this is a hard thing to do, but left handed guitars were not common in the day. So right handed guitars were adapted to suit. In the first instance, they learn't to play them upside down, or learn to play right handed, which a lot of guitar players would have done, until left handed guitars were made. John would have been impressed with the fact that Paul was playing a right handed guitar upside down, as John was right handed, & was playing ukulele chords, which is all he knew, on a guitar, that only had 4 strings on it. John learn't from his mother, so he had a way to play, what looked like a guitar, & sang. John was impressed with Paul's abity to remember the lyrics to '20 Flight Rock' was just a small part of his first impression of Paul. The fact that Paul could play a guitar was a big deal, but upside down, (how does he do that?) would have him intrigued, plus sing this song, & sing the correct lyrics as well, which John couldn't do. Paul was one big, (I have to get together with this guy) would have been going through John's thinking. So he asked Paul to join 'The Quarry Men', almost on the spot. Now Paul already knew George Harrison, because they would travel on the same bus together, & chatted. But they must have already done all the introductions with each other, quite a few times, because Paul knew George played guitar, & was impressed with George's ability, and think about introducing him to John. So this colaboration did start quite early, so they sorted through the musicians that John already played with, until they arrived at (The Silver Beetles) which would have had Pete Best on drums, Stuart Sutcliff, (John's close art school mate) on bass, Paul McCartney, on rhythm/2nd lead guitar & vocals, George Harrison on lead guitar & vocals, along with John (himself) on vocals, rhythm guitar & harmonica. Little did they know, a series of internal line up events (changes) would take place, & the rest would become history. So this all took place back in 1958. Yes George was very instrumental in The Beatles beginnings. He was the one that happened to be the very one, who was friends with Richard Starkey (Ringo) he coming in to fill in with them when Pete Best had time out, or couldn't come to play. George would call up Ringo, so George was very important to their final line up decision, to replace Pete. We have to remember that Ringo was already playing professionally with 'Rory Storm & The Hurricanes', who had records out, because I remember them having radio play back at the time. Tony Sheridan's 'My Bonnie' on the radio, the flip side being 'Ain't She Sweet', being sang by John Lennon, the band on this single, was The Beatles, along with a lot of other recordings by Tony Sheridan, his backing band, being 'The Beat Brothers', who were John, Paul, George & Ringo. The Beatles had an instrumental (also played on radio) from those Polydor recordings, "Cry For A Shadow', a Beatles song, they played at their shows. George possibly developed the arrangement. So in answer to the queries, they played together for 5 years, before their fame. They were very seasoned muso's by this time, they had it together, wrote a lot of their own songs before they were ever popular. So all in all, they had been playing together, before they called it a day (for a period of 14 years) which is a good run, 5 years developing their craft, & 9 years at the top. They came under a lot of pressure from all around them. I think, if John hadn't passed away at the time, I feel they would have produced more music together, as time moved forward, & we all would be seeing 4 aging men, coming together, once in a while, out of the deep love & respect they all have for each other. The 2 remaining, aspire to that being a fact, which we all are lucky to witness. What a legacy!

I've not seen the 'Let It Be ' documentary which came from the footage, they have just released on Disney, 'L'et It Be', paints a disastrous ending to the then Beatles, blaming Lennon, & McCartney for the final split of The Beatles, but this new film, 'Get Back' does show how John, Paul, George & Ringo, really were with each other back at that time. Again, I've not seen this either, only snippets of the film, which comes up on 'You Tube', & certainly dissolves the propaganda, scandal, of The Beatles breakup, & it shows a true tolerance they did endure with, & for one another. These 4 guys, truly loved each other, & the respect shows here in this film. OK George was probably tired, by the time they filmed this, as all 4 of them would have been, they were on a mission to bring another Album together, plus a live concert, which they succeeded in doing. This 56 hours of film, shows The Beatles, as they were in the studio, writing songs, dealing with the pressures of their working together, as they had always done, in the years leading up to this particular moment. Nothing was any different, except, they'd grown up together, & now were 4 grown adults, instead of 4 boys, they all had private lives, so there is always everyday pressures associated with that, & the film gives a glimpse of this, so these guys were not just great friends, they were also close work mates. After all, they are human beings first, with all the human traits, faults, feelings, frustrations, ,& anxieties, but it also shows their respect for all concerned. Again, I, like you, & all others, love The Beatles, their music, what they did for popular music, the huge legacy, & wealth, they presented, to the world. They actually made history.

The Beatles disbanded because Paul in late 1968 wanted to leave the group and start a solo career, as he wanted to get all the money, be the sole star, and play softer music. He then told Hunter Davis about this, and to prepare the public Paul released the film Let It Be / Get Back, which John called Paul's film for Paul. This is the basis. Everything else is just excuses or little things that did not have a decisive influence.

Your "knowledge" is completely outdated, really, each and every point you make is false: 1) Paul didn't want to leave the Beatles in 1968, and tried hard to keep them together up to September 69 when John announced that he wanted a "divorce". 2) Paul wouldn't have gotten "all the money" anyways and knew it very well. During the post Break-up it was John and George that didn't want to release Paul from the contract "because of the Taxman". 3) Paul continued to play all kinds of music after the break-up, soft and hard. 4) It wasn't Paul who filmed, produced or released "Let it Be", but Micheal Lindsay-Hogg and Neil Aspinall. Really there is so much good information around now, you don't have to rely on outdated, biased and ill-informed books (Shout!) anymore, and certainly not on an angry interview John Lennon gave in 1970, which he regretted almost instantly afterwards. The Beatles did not disband because any of them particularly wanted or planned it, but because there where tensions, internal and external, that drew them apart.
