Beavers rebuild historic habitat, that's for sure. And, that habitat is pretty awesome. But from a water balance standpoint, does the aggregate water stored in the beaver ponds really matter when you don't have enough runoff to fill your storage reservoirs now? And a second question, for watersheds where beavers re-establish significant acreage of beaver pond mosaic habitat, does the typical net water volume exiting the watershed decrease because of the water used by the new vegetation and water evaporation from the new ponds? I wonder if the beavers provide more water/habitat locally but at the cost of less water available for the regional and interstate storage reservoirs. Thoughts?

IT's ironic that beavers are so helpfull in the united state. But down here in Chile. Beabers are a invasive species who are destroying thousands of hectares. Because chilean ecosistem is not adapted to beabers.
