@@DickHamm I'll be honest, I got a little star struck when I met him at Zip Tie Drags. He just picked up some tools and started fabbing exhaust because he wanted to see our crazy swap idea work. So rad.

8:05 Glad I watched this again. Hey Dick, I used the digital caliper you sent me last xmas. Man have I used the shit out of that thing! My engine from a 2000 C3500HD has those same exhaust manifolds and 3/8 pushrods! I was about to order crap I don't need. Thanks to both you guys for this series - great stuff! Thanks for the caliper

Ok here’s what I was trying to get at in the post I deleted, gen 5 blocks have less material along the top side of the decks than mk 4 and gen 6, hence mk 4 heads will not seal on a gen 5 block. The difference between gen 5 and 6 is the block casting itself, not the head gasket. Sorry for the inconvenience. 😄

I did the same build and it turned out awesome. Just one issue after about 5 hrs of run time the reluctor gear on the crank got pushed into my timing cover. I think it’s the timing gear set I used. Do you know if I can just take the reluctor gear out and still run the gen vi harmonic balancer ?

My 99 Silverado k2500 has the exact same manifolds. Didn’t realize that until u mentioned that and had to run out and check. But sadly the 7.4 is getting yanked out with only 142k miles and 6.0 swapped for more dependability and lower repair cost.
