A video showing how I replaced my parts washer pump on my 20+ year old Allied parts washer from Sam's Club. I couldn't find an original replacement pump so I did a Google search and came up with a BECKETT Model GP210V replacement pump which is compatible with Stoddard cleaning fluid. I show how I had to modify the mounting arrangement to secure the new pump in the sheet metal housing.

My parts washer pump failed after 20 years as well, the impeller housing got brittle and cracked. Replacement Pump : I used a 12 volt diesel fuel oil transfer pump i bought on eBay (looks like a big automotive in-tank fuel pump) i also wired in a 5Amp-12Volt power supply (eBay as-well) on the outside off my tank after the switch, the pump is self priming and submersible, it has a bit more volume/pressure and nicely hums along at 8500 rpm, cost about 30$ total and works like a hot damn !

The filter that you reused that was breaking down can be replaced by a piece of scotchbrite. I had the same issue and after trying different things as filters a piece of a pad works great, I replace it once a year or so and it catches a ton of crap.

On another more recent parts washer video, someone advised against using one of those cleaning pads, not sure if it was the "Scotch Bright " brand though, saying that it can deteriorate with the solvents.

A dish washer pump is around twenty to forty dollars. Made to handle some heat and strong detergents. May not work for oils but there's that.

Thanks for the video. Now, I just purchased the little giant pump for my HB parts washer. I has a Blue, Brown and Green/yellow wires. The old HB pump has a White, Black and Green wires. Which ones go with what? Thanks in advance!

from a 1 foot head, meaning head pressure....the level at which the liquid is pumped from. like a well, if you have a 300 foot deep well that supplies your house with water and the top of the water level in the well is only 50 feet from surface(with the connection that turns toward your house 10 feet below the grass or surface), then you only have 40 feet of head pressure. so if your tube that sprays into the parts washer is only pumping upward 1 foot from where it stays in the tube when you turn it off, then that is 1 foot of head pressure. now I'm not an expert at this, but diameter of the tube, and the tube bending into the tank, and the nozzle on the end, probably all have an effect on head pressure. so, I would say you're well within specs and getting the flow rate that the box says, maybe more, can't say exactly for sure without knowing all the math. hope that helps with knowing the flow rate and the 1 foot of head you mentioned. and by any other definition, Ron Jeremy is about the only one I know of that has or gets 1 foot of head, LOL.

So on a well going to your house it does not turn and go to your house 10' below the ground. It comes straight up into the well house to your pressure tank and all that. Then goes back in ground to the house. Must be in the Arctic if it's 10' deep to house

I'm not sure that those instructions were saying that " this pump can be ALSO used with water based solvents " but instead, I think it's saying that, " this pump is to be used ONLY with water based solvents and not petroleum based solvents ", but if your pump is still working after 5 years, maybe that's all that counts

Hello, first off thank you for the video. I recently bought the pump you recommended and I plan on installing it soon. What mineral spirits do you use (brand)? Where do you buy it and how much do you put in the parts washer? 10gal?

Thanks for the nice comment! I bought it many years ago at a fuel dealer no longer in business. It is Mineral Spirits, Solvent 142. Got about 30 gallons in a 55 gallon drum. Has lasted me for years. Paid about $2/gal back then. A lot more today. Here is a link to some I found on line. I put 10 to 12 gallons in my parts washer. www.kellerheartt.com/products/truegard-mineral-spirits-solvent-142-flash-point?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItazFxYzH4gIVlf7jBx2y2g-REAkYAyABEgLHivD_BwE#full-description

damn, good job...If I send you a parts washer, will you plumb one up for me? I've been trying to find a small parts washer that uses the non-aqueous petroleum based cleaners myself. im having a hard time finding one thats sort of inexpensive. most sites that have the sort of washer im looking for don't have prices posted, so you know what that means, too damn expensive. ill pay for all the shipping...If you build it, it will come, and go....to my house. if you reply, ill see it, thanks.

Just found this video while searching for pumps to make a home made parts washer. If you're still active, could you provide an update on how well the replacement Beckett pump has worked and held up? Thank you.

Hi, I uploaded this video 7 years ago, so the pump is now 7 years old. I use it a lot and it is still working great, no problems at all. Using mine with mineral spirits.

Thank you for the response. I plan on using the PSC1000 solvent from Tractor Supply. I have read great reviews on it, it has a high flash point, and it is rather reasonably priced. Stay safe! @@10630390

Just saw your video. I've got the Beckett pump in and I'm going to hopefully change it out tomorrow. Is it still running good after these past couple of years? And is the PSC solvent from Harbor Freight a good solvent to use?
