Thank you! My timer will not start on high heat timer cycle, I am getting continuity between T-F and nothing between B-C. I cut a piece of wire and jumped C to B, press the start button and it started right up just fine, will order a new timer

This was helpful! my dryer never shut off cause the timer doesn’t rotate at all… I tested on timed-regular and isn’t working on T-X and T2-S but the other terminals are working… on auto-regular is working in all the terminals. So that means I need to buy a new timer Kenmore (gas dryer) is the second timer I’m getting after replacing it in 2019.

I have a MED5620TQ0 Maytag Dryer. My wiring diagram of the timer switch is showing on one section BK-BU-V. I’m assuming it means BK to V and BU to V. But on the last two combinations of the diagram it’s showing T-W for both with one showing open and the other one as closed. I’m lost on this point.
@PartsDr6 ай бұрын
T-W - the two sets of T-W's on the chart don't make sense to us either. You probably need to go with the readings for the T-W on the right column. BK-BU-V - we haven't tested this one exact one yet, but we think that it probably means there is continuity between all three of these terminals on when marked Closed on the timer chart.

The gas flame on my whirlpool does not cycle on and off. Does the timer control any portion of the length of time the flame is lit?

I just noticed that my Whirlpool dryer timer knob was not moving, and the clothes were hot due to being in the running dryer for hours! I had to manually turn the timer knob to stop it. I experimented by trying the timed drying setting, and the knob moved fine until the cycle ended. I also tried the remaining setting (de-wrinkle with no heat), and that also worked fine. I then retried the auto-dry for a short time, and the knob still did not move. NOTE that when I tried the timed drying and de-wrinkle settings, I noticed the normal "ticking sound" coming from behind the dryer's timing knob, but there was NO ticking sound when I had it in the auto-dry positions UNTIL I got to the "cool down" part. Given that, does that mean the dryer timer is the culprit? I will disconnect things and follow the instructions in your video if necessary, but I figured I would run it past you first. Nice video. Very clear. I just subscribed!

Will do. So the fact that no ticking sound occurs when the timer knob is turned through the auto-dry positions (until I hit the Cool Down part) but ticks in the timed drying and dewrinkle sections does not mean the timer is necessarily bad?
@PartsDr2 ай бұрын
@@dionysuseros7423 The auto dry and timed dry cycles use different contacts inside the timer. The auto dry cycles only advances intermittently during the cycles. The timed dry cycles advance continuously.

My Roper dryer in the timer setting runs for hours.. could this be a faulty timer?
@PartsDr6 ай бұрын
Yes, if the timer is not advancing through the cycle on the timed dry setting, it is usually a failure of the timer itself.
@kimberlysousa50916 ай бұрын
@PartsDr it does advance, but it will run for hours, and the clothes aren't dry. I have replaced the heating element, thermal fuse, Thermal Cut-off Switch, dryer thermostat, and cycle thermostat. In the high heat timer setting, I have to stop and restart the dryer after 30 minutes to get my clothes to dry and stop the dryer when the clothes are dry.
@PartsDr6 ай бұрын
@@kimberlysousa5091 The timed dry setting should be run the dryer for the set amount of time. If you set the dryer to run for 30 minutes on a timed dry cycle and the dryer runs for 90 minutes, then you most likely have a failure of the timer. Your slow drying could be a separate, unrelated issue. Make sure to check the exhaust venting and dryer for any lint build up or restrictions.

My timer is good, changed the heating element that was good, thermostats that were good, thermal fuse that was good still no heat. The dryer runs but no heat. I tested the temperature selector relay switch, it didn’t have continuity and I replaced that for $12, still no heat. What gives 😢🤷🤦🏼

Make sure the power supply to the dryer is good. If you only have one side of the power to the dryer, the dryer can run but not heat.

You mentioned that a timer could cause the nothing happens when you push the start button. You do not show how to test the timer if this is the case. I have tested the following: door switch, start push button, thermal cutoff, good power to the dryer. whirlpool wed4950hw

You will just want to test the timer as shown in this video and go through the entire chart when testing the time.

@PartsDr7 ай бұрын
You probably have to test T to X and T to F like our dryer timer chart shows. What model number is your dryer?
@wilee.coyote52987 ай бұрын
@PartsDr Thanks for the reply. Model is WED5000DW2. Timer won't advance in any timing mode, but heat levels work. I opened timer and cleaned all contactors with sand paper. Good video BTW.
@PartsDr7 ай бұрын
@@wilee.coyote5298 The timer chart for your model shows separate columns for T to F and T to X. So you will just need to test it the same as we show in this video. The timer motor on the timer could be bad and causing it to not advance. You would need to replace the timer as the motor is not sold separately. partsdr.com/part/w10185992-timer

@PartsDr Thanks for the quick reply. A replacement part came in. The resistance and continuity test on motor and tabs were the same. I installed the replacement part and it is now working / advancing. It appears just the motor gears may have been bad. Thanks for your responses and help, I very much appreciate it!
@wilee.coyote52987 ай бұрын
Follow up: I took apart the motor. The yellow plastic shaft/gear was broken where it should connect to the motor - obviously causing it to spin instead of engaging.
