Excellent video! I have this washer and have taken the tub out twice so far to clean it because of gunk build up on the bottom of the tub that eventually gets on our clothes. Now it's making a loud noise in spin cycle so I'm sure the bearings are gone. I had a hell of a time getting the tub out the first time due to corrosion on the shaft splines.

Great tutorial. I snapped the bolt holding the agitator after it wouldnt come out when trying to clean it. I tried to drill out the screw in the clutch shaft and i just busted it up beyond all repair. Getting the clutch out required me to use a torch with map gas (like 70 bucks at a hardware store. It was the yellow bottle). I had to heat the clutch splines up for a good 30-50 seconds then i splashed cold water on it. It was close to melting some of the plastic so i had to keep the flame moving and had it at a lower setting. Only then would it come off the old clutch. Running my first wash right now and fingers crossed i have no leaks.

Got a used set. When i went to run it thru with cleaner a bunch of gunk came into the tub. Ran it at least 8 times and still got gunk. Started tearing it apart and found your videos. I took WD 40 and boiling water to it but still couldn't get the wash tub out. So we brought it outside, got a dryer cleaning brush, the hose and our shop vac. While the hose ran I shoved the brush in between the wash tub and the big tub, and scrubbed everywhere. So much gunk! Then we filled and sloshed the tub around and shop vacced again. No more gunk!!!!

@PartsDr I spoke too soon. Now I've got gritty gunk in the tub. I think all my scrubbing only loosened the gunk more. I have run vinegar through, used washer cleaner, and probably 15 empty wash loads in total. Still gritty gunk. Guess I see if I can get it back outside and rubber mallet the clutch till it comes out. Either way, I wouldn't have even gotten this far without you! Thank you for making these videos!

@PartsDr I have tried vinegar, Coca-Cola, WD 40, silicone lube, scrub daddy paste, boiling water, wire brush, rubber mallet; this thing won't come off! I am afraid if I turn it over and tear it apart from the bottom up, I'll end up having to replace the whole clutch, which I can't afford. I've taken the garden hose and shoved it down in between the tub and the bin, and so much gunk still comes out. I keep vacuuming out the water, then do it again and still get more gunk. I went to try and get a new nut and washer as this one was so nasty, but they wanted $45 just for that nut. So I soaked and scrubbed this one so it's at least clean when I put it back on.... I am giving up 😩

@@Stephentko Your model washer has the motor off to the side and a belt that connects it to the clutch instead of a rotor and stator. So on your model washer you won't have a rotor and stator to remove aka "that tesla looking stuff" 😂.

Hey, my Samsung top loader only rotates impeller in one direction. When tries to reverse it gets stuck - the motor hums and sounds like it labouring. Sometimes clicking noises when it reverses. Strange thing is that it does not happen in rinse cycle, only ion washing cycle. Could it be the clutch?

That could be a clutch that is failing. To check, you could unplug the washer and try rotating the clutch by hand. Manually moving the arm on the clutch to engage or disengage the tub and agitator. This should help you identify what is binding up.

When the bearings in the clutch go bad, you will usually hear the washer start to get noisy during the spin cycle. You can also start to get some dirty greasy fluid leaking out of the bottom.

How can I test this part before buying new one? My Samsung front load washer keeps slow spinning one way, then stops, then spins again and stops. Never a max spin. The timer goes down but never an error. Went down to 4 min left but stays there trying to get a spin. Samsung WF50K7500av

We haven't seen a test for determining that the clutch is bad, but there are some things to look for. If the washer is louder than normal in the spin cycle, it is usually caused by bad bearings in the clutch assembly. If you see a brownish substance leaking from the bottom of the clutch, it is usually caused by a leaking tub seal that caused the bearing in the clutch to go bad. If the bearings fail, the washer will also not spin concentrically and the washer will get out of balance easily.

It would not be very common for the water valve to go bad while waiting for parts. First, we would check all of the wire connections to the water valve and main control board to make sure nothing is disconnected.

All of them that we have seen unscrew clockwise. Let us know if you find something different. Sometimes the nut gets stuck in place from corrosion and have to be cut off.

Why would you take the basket out ? You can do this repair with it still in the washer. Since the clutch will be replaced it shouldn't matter about damaging the shaft should it?

From our experience it is better to remove the inner basket. You can try to do it without removing it, but often you will spend more time fighting it than just removing it.

I'm not having a clutch issue but trying to get the inner tube out and I can get the nut off but it's not lifting I've been using wd40 for like two days. I don't know if I'm using enough but it's not budging. Any help is appreciated

Unfortunately, as we show in this video sometimes the corrosion between the clutch and tub can cause them to get stuck together and sometimes you can't get them removed without damaging something. The clutch may have to come out to get the inner tub out.

You will most likely need to cut a groove in the nut using a tool like a Dremel and a cutoff wheel. They will usually come off at that point, but if it is still stuck then cut a groove on the other side to cut the nut in half to remove it.
