A very big "thank you" to you, Steve! I replaced the door bellows on our LG WM2377C. Took me 3 hours. I took the time to vacuum and clean pretty much every thing I could reach. The most challenging part: fitting the bellows to the tub and reattaching the clamp... I used a bit of laundry detergent as you suggested and it helped. Again: thank you!

I usually dont comment on videos but wanted to say this is the BEST how-to video I found on KZbin. I just changed my LG WM9500HKA bellow. My washer is not common, so I was a little scared at first. But, an hr later the bellow is replaced! Thanks again!!

Thanks so much for this. I had a devil of a time reinstalling those spring clamps. I ended up using a woodworking bar clamp and reversing it to make a spreader. I affixed each end of the spring to the clamp with twisted wire and was able to expand the springs to my heart's content. After that they went on easy.

Perfect instructions, thank you! I just want to add that the hole in our gasket was from the tabs on the pinch type metal hose clamp rubbing against the gasket from underneath where the drainage hose is. We replaced that particular hose clamp with a screw turn hose clamp.

This is the best and most simple method shown here. I had looked up around 7 or 8 videos but every video had something missig or shown with complication. I had initially thought that putting the springs back up on rubber seal would be the most difficult part but the methods shown here made it to be one of easiest. I just did exactly how you had shown. I used a grip-plier and screw driver to put the spring back and it took me less than a minute. Thanks for the step by step method. I just had to spent the money to buy the replacement seal and then used your tutorial. :-)

Thank you for the video it helped with the disassemble and reassemble of machine. One thing that I found extremely handy that you failed to mention was to apply a small amount of detergent in the grove that fits around onto the outer tub. Trying to install "dry" is almost impossible. After applying detergent it practically fell into place. Thanks again.

I was catching hell trying to put it on dry also. I realized that there was a bottle of Shout that my wife uses on the laundry, just a little spray and wipe it all the way around definitely made a difference.

Thank you for this! I had to follow these instructions... not to replace the boot, but to remove the front panel of a Kenmore, as it was rusting like a cheap car down at bottom front of panel. I knew if I let it go, it would only progress like a cancer. Kenmore used to be a good product. This washer I have is only 5 years old, no leaks, so why it's rusting is a mystery; although the laundry room is damp.

Great video. I'd suggest to completely remove the tiny hose that drains the bellow as well and run a 'Q' tip or equivalent through it - mine was 100% clogged with gunk so the new bellow wouldn't have been able to drain. Then when it's all finished, run a cycle with wash and main wash containers full of vinegar to help clear out any gunk still remaining in the system. And as others have mentioned, that sensor should be tie wrapped into place I would think.

Thanks so much do this incredibly helpful video.... I had just assumed that this was like a simple (but big) gasket that could be replaced in about 5-10 minutes. But I had no idea that the rubber boot/door seal was connected to so many things, and that it replacing it required removal of the top of the machine, the soap drawer, the control panel and the front of the entire machine’, and that it involved disconnecting so many parts, seals and electrical connections! Thank goodness I watched your video before I bought the replacement boot...had I tried to do this on my own, despite being relatively handy with tools, I know I would have made it about 1/3 way through the process before I realized I had dome something terribly wrong - and then I’d be stuck with a partially disassembled machine machine, and I would have had to call for an expensive repairman while the family’s dirty clothes started piling up! (so basically, you saved me endless frustration and lots of money by trying to do this myself). I know this is not your typical “thank you” for an instructional video, but I’m honest enough to see when something is beyond my capabilities, and I would never had known this was so complicated had I not watched your video....so thank you SO MUCH! Cheers!

19:30-19:45 is a useful tip; use the resistance of the wire being looped around the left side while you pull to the right to get the last remaining little bit. That’s way easier than trying to stretch the spring enough to get the whole perimeter around.

The wired "Sensor" you refer to on the top of the bellow is actually a light. I would refrain from using a screwdriver to pry between the two water inlets as that part is plastic and will break and you will spend another week or two awaiting a replacement. Finally I commend you on your "brute" strength in connecting the spring back together as that is extremely difficult and not easily accomplished by the majority.

This tutorial is fantastic though after having done the repair I would recommend a couple of improvements. First, you absolutely should pay the $13 for the spring expansion tool. It makes getting the two spring clamps off and back on MUCH easier. It will save at least a dozen swear words and at least 3 skinned knuckles. Second, I think there should be a close up of the way the bellows is supposed to fit on the inner tub and later on how it is supposed to fit on the face of the machine. The bellow has several folds in it and it is easy to do it wrong. Other than that, the video was spot on.

@66tricky5 жыл бұрын
The hardest part of this operation is stretching the spring on the rear spring band over the hook. It requires more than two hands and is a nightmare. However, I worked out an easy method after ten minutes of swearing add there is s huge risk of puncturing the new gasket I have a box is assorted tension and compression springs. I found a tension spring of similar length with loop ends and lower spring rate. Hooked it over the loop and the hook. Then you can ease the while assembly into position as the spring is soft enough. Then when in location, your can easily stretch the other spring into position. I used a late of long needle nose aviation pliers. Once in position the second spring can be pulled or cut away.

Actually, I spoke too soon. The outer spring seal was even harder and it isn't possible to use the trick I mentioned with the extra spring for fitting. In the absence of the lg tool availability I improvised with a large pair of engineer's scribing calipers. First I filed off the sharp points as I didn't want to puncture the new door gasket. I was then able to use the calipers to pull the spring linearly from both ends at the same time to get it over the edge without pulling it off the case rim. If I was doing it again I'd buy a large pair of external circlip pliers. Overall the job was easy though and this video very helpful.

great video. It's going to take me longer moving the washer in and out of it's cubbyhole than to do the repair. We do this why? Because we love our wives and we can't afford to pay someone else. I am stuck at the moment where the bellow should be attached to the drum, and I'm not getting any further, spent a long time trying. No matter what I try the thing will not fit, it's like I would need 4 hands to finish that part. I can't even get the outer lip to fit all around, it's like the bellows is too small. It constantly slides off when I try to fit the last part of it. I have checked the size of the new bellow with the old one and they are the same. What am I doing wrong? Please help me, I am going insane over this. 😟

Does putting the spring part of the outer clamp in the 6 o clock position help prevent a leak from the seal in that area? I just replaced the bellow on my washer and still get a small leak from the bottom of the door during the wash cycle when water is essentially pouring directly onto the seal in the 6 o clock position. I can look in and see the seal folding over slightly with the water pouring on it, I wonder if I rotate the spring clamp so the spring is in the groove at 6 o clock perhaps the body of the spring itself will fill that groove out more and keep the seal from folding over and causing a leak
