That is why John wasn't able to get him and he ever escape ever in almost impossible situations: These scenes with the two of them, it's all in his head. That also explains why his daughter wanted to help and how John was the only one able to "predict" where the Party Hard Killer would be. The entire game is a retelling of what happened until now, in a conversation between Darius and John, after John discovered in the subway that it was all his doing all along, and John trying to convince Darius that it was not totally his fault because Darius is another personality. But as you can see at the ending, its all in vain and John surrenders to Darius acknowledging him as part of himself.'' It was the mask. The mask IS Darius.

As you can see at ending scene, the mask is Darius and the Police Hat is John. John surrender and follow Darius to the Darkside. Along the whole Story cutscenes, Darius and John are convinced together with split personality on his head of the person.

John (the cop) and Darius (the interviewer) are the same people, split personalities. John was also the murderer, that's why he was the only guy able to predict where Darius would go. Then Darius tries to convince John that what they were doing is right, and John ended up agreeing and now they went back to their mass murder
