Mrs Rubino Most definitely. I remember seeing this episode and thinking "well I guess we've seen enough of Phill and Jerry is going to take over." 3 episodes later he's in charge and a completely different vengeful person. But, look at where that got him. I'm going to send you a short clip. If you like Mob movies and the Sopranos, u'll enjoy it.

Are you familiar with the scene where Phil and his ugly Bible preaching wife (who is just as vengeful and full of hate as he is) go over to Vito's house to console his wife after he was beaten to death with pool sticks (via Phil) and had 1 up his butt ??? Anyway, they're talking and this music comes on the tv showing bodybuilders in thongs flexing at a competition; just an awkward situation because Vito was gay. Here is a spoof. Phil nor anybody had the right to beat vito to death. Sure, oust him from the circle. Guys in that business would never want to be around him. It's just the way it is, can't fix it. But Phil, who could give a shit about anything, sticks his nose in another families business because Vito's wife was his 2nd cousin and feels the need to have him beat'n to death. Not only that, since he is the one who killed him, it's now his responsibility to take care of Vito's family, not Tony. WOW.... SORRY FOR THE NOVEL. JUST WATCH - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHemaaGtnL6MadE

Such great writing. You have to pay attention to every word. “ I’m here to enjoy my grandchildren, my home.” All of us were blown away when Phil turned into a house but we were subtly being lead in that direction. Absolutely brilliant.

Phil had that same ability as Tommy (Goodfellas) to just scare the shit out of anybody by getting into their heads and leaving the person wondering whether he's taking it in good fun as a joke or whether he's enraged enough to ice pick the person then and there. Dialed down and not as obvious as Tommy, but just as terrifying.

Sure, we break balls in the Sopranos comment section, but does anyone else feel bad for Phil when he says "Don't listen to me, I've been a cranky fuck lately."? It feels like he was trying to open up to the guys about how prison affected him, and yet he's immediately met with a playful insult, which made him shut off again. Wonder how the show would've turned out if Phil decided to see a psychiatrist as well.

@@jjordan6066 Johnny was the boss, but imprisoned. Phil became acting boss before he had the heart trouble, at which point Doc Santoro became acting boss. So right here, Doc is acting boss. Then, Johnny dies in the next episode, Phil decides to get back in the game, and has Doc killed to take over as official boss.
