Plus I would imagine that you technically should be able to handle the radiation levels that everyone else can since they probably adapted to it by now. The Mad Mystic Danse has a far better build and strategic prowess than the male SS (which is only achievable with good diet) The male SS is most likely an infantry (grunt) soldier who really only follows orders from higher in command) Not only does Danse see combat far more frequently than most modern infantry (they see a lot less than you would expect) he is also a commanding officer and tactician. X-6 is a super intelligent synth (who doesn't need a healthy diet), is incredibly calculating and has vast knowledge on high technology weaponry. His strength is most likely above a humans due to his more metallic components. Strong has probably fought his entire life. He is far stronger than any natural human on the planet and is definitely cognitively impaired, but he is most likely more battle smart like other super mutants. MacCreedy is a very skilled shooter and is one of the commonwealths best hitmen for a reason. Codsworth is literally a metal ball with a bunch of limbs of death coming out to kill anything he want's to. Not to mention that all of these characters know the wasteland better than you and might actually be more resistant to radiation. Just because your MC was in the military doesn't mean these guys are probably more qualified to be the protector and not the protected.

Mostly because I don't want to set off the alarms every time I do something noteworthy but also because some work well together, my group is macready strong and hancock, all my favorite companions. Oh and no one seems to like danse or X6. Seemingly brotherhood and institute are supposed to go down.

If I could have several followers I'd pick dog meat and cosworth until I meet piper and nick. Then I'd let coddy go home and I'd stick with dog meat piper and nick until I let nick go after the memory den. Then I'd pick up macready and let piper go before we do all the good neighbor quests- then we'd leave after recruiting Hancock and it would be us 4 until we find the railroad and add deacon on and off as needed till I finally manage to Infiltrate the institute and gain X-6 as a follower. Than I'd leave macready to guard sanctuary and let hancock go for a bit while I gain the trust of the enemy- until Shaun admits hes dying and asks me to destroy the brotherhood and the railroad....I'd like to be able to convince X6 to join the railroad for the betterment of his species but since I cant- I'd then destroy the brotherhood, before siding with the railroad and using the combined armies of the railroad and minutemen to take down the institute. ....that's it. That's the whole plan....lol
