This is really interesting, the segment where they react to who your going to side with really shows more about the characters, I mean I thought hancock & Preston had mostly the same ideals about helping people but Preston just calls these people a step above raiders while hancock just sees them as people. It's pretty cool how small comments can tell so much about the character. Even one as dense as Preston :/

Cait on the other hand had one of the most depressing backstories in the game but even after her quest she is still pretty cold. But yeah I love all of them.

I ALWAYS side with the robots in this since Mandy and her pack seemed likely to try to murder me after I help them. Theres also so much God damn junk to scavenge in the fallout universe and so very little left preserved... I would want to keep the ship in tact... and the robots seem to be taking mighty good care of the place.

It could be a slip up on Bethesda part. the robot was probably meant to be a mr. Gutsy but one of the developers accidentally made it protectron instead of mr. Gutsy during late development and didn't have time to change the companions dialogue and left it as it is

Robots were on the ship in the Navy before the war. Since all the human inhabitants died years before, it was in their programming to take the ship over to continue what was started. Clearly some of the protectrons were not originally on the ship, but they are the replacement the "captain" made. The reason they think you are in the army is because the lookout said "scanning pre war documents" you, as of pre war, were in the military if you took time to actually watch the introduction. They let you on the ship because they believe you to be part of the military so you can help them

+Joshua Darrow Well the lookout didn't get any more specific than the Battalion level of specification, so we can maybe assume he was one of the commanding officers of that Battalion. If in command he'd be a Lt. Colonel., a Major if 2nd in command or a Captain if he was the Adjutant.

I always side with the robots, because they are just too endearing, and it's their haul and supplies. It belongs to them and their core mission. Those humans just got bottlecaps in their eyes, won't shut tf up about profits, and got no qualms stealing from the robots. Plus they turn on you, and go back on their own rules of "sharing", because the feelings of envious butt-hurt rose its ugly head, so there's that. XD
