I was eagerly waiting for this episode! I shot a documentary about gypsy settlements in Slovakia a couple months ago and it was quite an experience. However bad it may look, the situation is getting better. Their mayor is a smart guy with a university degree and does everything he can to improve things. The crime rate decreased substantially, many people are getting new flats and they are working on taking away the garbage. By the way, if you want a really horrific experience, you should go to gypsy settlements at Svinia, Secovce, Trebisov or Chminianske Jakubovany. I've never seen things as terrible as there. You're basically crawling through human feces, 6 year olds are doing drugs in front of you, there are dead dogs rotting on piles of garbage etc. It's a very sad side of Slovakia and it's extremely difficult to find a solution to the gypsy problem. Great video as always by the way;)

Those buildings were built for upper middle-level class, for families of policemen or soldiers. Communist regime had the idea to mix white folks with gypsies to "educate them" somehow. Hi there, i am from Slovakia from Capital Bratislava and the reason why there is garbage around is, that many or maybe the most of them are living there illegally, they do not pay their rents to the city council and therefore they do not get service of the bin-man. It is vicious circle because there is also problem with no electricity or gas as result of not paying anything. If you ask Roma people living there why do not you pay your rent, they are going to say that they are not willing to pay for the flat with no electricity, gas or clean water, which makes sense, KIND OF, but then you ask the local authority why they are not providing these people with It, their answer is,because they do not pay their rents and bills so they do not get any of that. Vicious circle as most of those families now owe thousands of euros after decades of living there illegally,so they can not pay off their debt to get their water or power or gas to get back on.Also the authorities were especially worried about switching on gas supply again, because of their nature to dismantle everything:cables, copper pipes, windows, anything worthy to sell,so they were worried of possible gas explosions if someone starts fiddling with the copper gas piping...they are very

@@majingilane7730 So, my reply was seemingly deleted for speaking the truth, but I'll post it again. The government DOES help them out. In Serbia, where I live, they get child and social support for every child after the first, if no-one in the family is legally employed(and nobody is, because they would rather leech off of the government and do things that the original commentator mentioned, plus crime.). What they do is make 8 or more children and get almost two average salaries off of that. They also have loads of family up north and west, in Germany and France mostly, who smuggle cars and tech pieces across the border and sell them here for low prices, earning more money than any average citizen could ever fathom. I used to work in a slot club and gypsies that would come in would always be draped in golden neck chains, Gucci and Armani, lose up to 2000 euros annually and they would be the rudest gamblers there(extinguishing cigarettes on chairs, hitting tables and the machines, spilling drinks, yelling, cursing to name a few). When the children I mentioned turn 18, they acquire visas and join in on the "family business" in EU countries. On that note, they also receive more lenient punishments for crimes. Personal example; a gypsy committed armed robbery in my city some time ago, and received only 5 months, while a Serb who I personally know received 3 years. There were no additional offences added to their original charges, either. Ergo, you really shouldn't speak about the things you have no clue about, that you read from tabloid media, orchestrated by people who also have no idea about how things really are down southeast in the good ole' Balkan region.

The thing is.. The camera might have saved you...Buses that are (or were) going there...The drivers were paid extra for risks, lot of them refused to even go there because they'd be attacked and robbed constantly. That goes for just about everything that comes "from the outside". Everytime your bring a camera, everyone puts up "we are the victims mode". Then you read up on it, news, stories, hidden camera footage and you see what most of those people are..

They are "victims" exactly as they are in Serbia. They make their cardboard slum settlement on some non developed piece of land in some town, and when the town or the government wants to build something, we have to give them FREE apartments. so, basically, if you are a Gipsy, you just make a tent of a cabin anywhere you want, and wait for the owners of the land to evict you, and then ask for the government to give you a permanent living for free in some new building, because you are "a victim of prejudice and injustice". And the government obliges, of course, because they are nothing but EU puppets. EU is always more than ready to pour money for their accommodation.

Actually, Mr Bald does speak of a German filmmaker, who was robbed of everything - and he got that info off of their Gypsy hosts... So it's not like he and Alina were naive. They just wanted to show another side of the local people, a real side as well. And I'm sure they were aware that that trash heap is never getting removed. But then again, both sides, show both sides, and leave the conclusions to you. Greetings from Poland.

It's also in Rimavská Sobota, Spišská Nová Ves, Krompachy, Lomnička, Dobšiná and many other places in Slovakia. Our government had build houses for them which they had destroyed in a single year !! The throwing out of trash over the balcony happens always where gypsies live in such buildings. Even in Germany where everything is quite well organized and trash is collected on a weekly basis. You can see this happening in main cities like Berlin of München. It is a mentality thing, refusing to adapt to quite simple rules, like; the trash is picked up on Tuesday. Nevertheless they throw it out on the streets whenever they feel like. It is egotistical. Inside the home everything as clean as possible and all the rest outside is not their problem.

Whats sad is this open borders thing just allow lazy people to come and wreck whatever nice things caring people take the time to build/make! If you really weren't lazy, you'd make your OWN towns etc. heavenly, doesn't take much to plant flowers, trees, section away rubbish, and most importantly NOT HAVE A TON OF CHILDREN because we need to keep enough lumber, land and meadow etc. to make life happy. The bees are now suddenly dying out..our precious bees that made our country beautiful with flowers because we had time and a low enough population to plant for them, to give back to us. Botany is a wonderful thing, natural dyes etc. yet its soo unimportant apparantly now, having the latest plastic sh*t matters more than natural fibres people like me love to weave like reed, the various types of sheeps wool etc. In the past in UK our people kept it ECO with cardboard egg box, recycled milk bottles, paper flour bags etc..

@@uudong No it does not automatically of course. They are free to go everywhere it is not reservation or anything. There are lot of Roma people with nice living conditions and stable jobs. But sadly quite large percentage of them are rather just recieving the welfare and expecting to get everything for free. And that is the majority of them in Lunik IX. That housing estate was build not only for them there were also living Slovak majority ( mostly cops and military people- idea was for them to re-educate them) but they soon left it. In 1996 city council decided to put there almost all Roma people from city there and this is the result. They destroyed many of the blocks (few years ago some of them had to be tear down because of bad static). Schools are free in Slovakia they can get education also they can get work if they are willing to but these people rather just roam up the city garbage cans all day and do nothing. And it is quite dangerous part of city. They did nothing to Bald luckily but few months earlier they attacked Ambulance personell that came there for pregnant woman.

The Blethering Maw There is no “London type of accent”, there are, for example, Estuary, Cockney and RP. But those are not all and you could even go on to divvy them up further. And all of them, like Scottish and Welsh and West Country and you name it are all dialects from Britain. So inherently, these boys have some sort of a British accent. The point is, it’s English not as taught in school outside of Britain, but they obviously had to have lived in Britain, hence the “which would seem crazy without context” remark from the original comment.

People beat up America for slavery but ain’t nobody beaten up Slovakia for the way you treat people it’s disgusting.. Roma don’t want to work all they do we steal well why is that why is it that they steal you said it in the beginning of your statement you don’t want to live with them and have to tolerate your neighbors traditions it was never the other way around.. Racist racist country absolutely racist people have to lie about being Roma just like they had to lie about being Jewish your act like a bunch of Hitler’s that’s exactly how you are Hitler against the jews !! Do you realize how many gypsies were killed during the holocaust she really how many innocent Jewish people were killed during the holocaust and yet you still treat people like they don’t matter Europe has not learned their lesson at all not one bit.

The conditions are self-imposed. They've been given hundreds of chances to move on to a better life, but the fact that the offers come from outsiders and their parents and peers pressure them to stay turns it into a continuous self-perpetrating cycle. They _have_ been repressed and persecuted thorough history, but that's because of what you've seen here and the fact that previous regimes and people were far less compassionate and expected them to uphold their part of the societal contract. The government does nothing in fear of being perceived as racist (as well as the issue seemingly being unsolvable without radical solutions) but keeps being their ATM to further enable this. State gives parents plenty of money to ensure their kids can go to school, but when they pocket the money instead of buying school supplies, meals and clothes, attack the buses which would take the kids to school and then decry the school/state for being tyrannical and genocidial when they try to enforce regular school attendance and taxes/bill payments and basic security then you lose any sympathy you'd have for them pretty damn quick.

You're probably not far off. A sad situation. I would guess there are more and more of the young ones that manage to break out of the old traditions and adapt to the society around, but possible not a large group. It's mindblowing that after hundreds of years in Europe the Romani people have not managed to change and adapt more over time, and we see people living in ghettos like his in 2019. The problem seems overwhelming. Is it a possibility to try avoid such large ghettos like this, but more relocate people to smaller settlements, well apart from each other, where it might be easier to 'pull' more of the young generation out of the 'bad circle'? Glad I'm not a politician those places
