And this video is precisely why I'm in business. I see it far too often where somebody will follow a KZbin video such as this and fail because not all needed information was given. These carburetors have a mid body gasket set which gets destroyed from using ethanol fuel. None of that was even mentioned and when people follow these videos and the bike still doesn't run, they assume there's something else wrong and end up spending hours upon hours trying to diagnose something else. Nothing against the guy who did the video but partzilla should have done their research to know that those mid-body gaskets are a problem.

Lmao damn & here I was also thinking sheesh it would’ve been nice to see it put back together completely in case there’s also helpful ways go about it. It’s way easier to disassemble than to reassemble any bike that’s for sure! Lmao & having someone else in the shop start this up would’ve made this the greatest carb cleaning video ever.

One of the reasons those float bowl screws get stripped is that they are not Phillips screws. They are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) as evidenced by a dimple/punch mark on the drive face.

Went back into the carb, made a few adjustments, float, throttle sensor (I have NO idea if this affects anything while starting but it was off), cleaned air filter, etc...took 4 kicks after the rework. I let it sit for 4 hrs and it started up on the 2nd kick so life is better.

You have the best videos ever... I've been having problems with an suzuku rmz 250, and I rebuilt the carburetor and cleaned it out good, and it's very hard starting and can't keep it going. Shuts off immediately after taking off starter choke. Watching this, I realized acouple things, mainly the needle slide, that plate with the oring, pretty sure I have it upside down, and I think I have the oring wrong on the fuel screw. Plus, I think the hot start is seized, because if I remember right the spring was already compressed and stuck that way, and I noticed that real quick, but thought it was normal, but I new it wasn't. Looks like I'll be taking the carb out again! uhhhg, they're so hard to get the carb out and in too. Thanks alot! Best instructional videos ever!

John I am beginner DIY dad and frustrated. My sons CRF70 stopped running. Symptoms were carb needed cleaning. Ordered parts on eBay. (jets, float valve, float, filter). Decided to just swap jets while I have others soaking and cleaning. Rebuilt no problems…. BUT…. It cranked on first kick and ramped immediately to wide open. I triple checked the throttle pin/sleeve and it’s installed all the way inside knowing the only way it could go in that deep (1 cm below threads) was if the sleeve seated and the pin went down into jet). But still same result. I tried reinstalling several times and the pin/sleeve just appears installed correctly. Throttle has some play but springs back ok, but not perfect. After releasing throttle I can still turn it forward (less throttle) more manually. I then pull cable off throttle grip and reseated cable in hole and down the cable grooves and reassembled guides. Appears to be built correctly. When off carb the pin rises compressing spring on throttle turn but when throttle is released the spring still has some tension and does not appear fully relaxed. Carb is sealed up good to air filter assemble, sealed good to block inlet pipe, etc. all o rings new and in place. Idle screw set to midway. The problem is still there going wide open when idle. I am at a loss. Before I take to shop any ideas? I did buy the new jets 2 years ago and I am curious if I accidentally purchased oversized jets? If my jet port/hole are oversized would the stock throttle pin become to small and act like throttle is always open?

It is not a baffle plate, it is a vacuum release plate and if it is from 2005 it should have been replaced while you were in there, the slide looked pretty beat up too, if you check the Honda manual you will notice that the service intervals on those items are shorter then one would think they would be. @Partzilla History, the bike sat for 2 years and would not hit when I tried to start it, yes I drained the gas and put in new fuel. Ordered a carb kit, followed your video, checked the valve clearance and decompressor while I had the bike this far down and they checked good. So why are you blowing from the fuel bowl jet holes into the carb body???? Doesent that just blow the crud I to the carb?? I've always been told to go opposite flow.. One question, can you install a carburetor 450cc to a 250cc engine?
@PartzillaParts6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's doable, but you'll have a lot of fun trying to get the right air-fuel mixture. Typically, the 450cc carbs dumb too much fuel for a 250cc.
@richardtschida23216 жыл бұрын
That's big of a difference in cc. You will have more success using a smaller mm carburetor on the 250cc. Check with the carburetor manufacturer for your carburetor sizing.
