Nice breakdown of storytelling. Maybe I missed it but, a major part of keeping the viewer engaged is "stakes". What happens if the character doesn't achieve the goal. The higher the goal the bigger the stakes. Nobody cares if Jonh is late for his dentist appointment, but I want to see if Jonh beat the LA traffic before his son is born because his wife will leave him otherwise.

Love your content man! Just starting posting videos finally, one of my challenges has been over complicating the storytelling process. I tend to break it into a 5 act structure and worry about every single beat, but reality is KZbin is made for shorter, more casual content so I don't need to worry so much! Just getting content out is solid enough. Thanks for the inspiration man! Keep it up
@pascalbasel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I wouldn't say that KZbin is generally for shorter content. Every length can work on KZbin. It really depends on the content and how you deliver it. Just cut all the clutter out so that every part of the video is either informative or entertaining.
@NickLinnen2 жыл бұрын
@@pascalbasel totally! You’re right there’s any and every type of content on KZbin, and that’s more what I mean. I used to limit myself so much because I was worried about it not being long enough or good enough. It’s more about delivering value or entertainment!

I started a travel vlog and my daughter told me I had to learn how to tell a story. Videos that I found were sometimes vague or hard for me to understand. I am not a left brain type of person so sometimes simple creative concepts give me a headache. In this short video, everything was explained simply where I had an Aha moment.

Hey Pascal. I am looking forward to buying your LWP package. A few questions in advance: - do you update your videos from time to time? Example: new gear, new techniques etc. - what about LUTs for a Sony A7IV? Can I use LUTs of the Fuji camera or the TANGE LUT pack for my Sony? (I am pretty new into this.. just bought the camera 2 weeks ago - so probably a stupid question for most of the people) - can I use all the techniques with the Sony A7IV Kit lense or do I have to spend thousands of dollars for new lenses? I only look forward to get the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 for an overall lense.. is it good for your video course and your techniques that you are using? - I am not an apple user, so probably I cannot use Final Cut Pro. Are your transitions, techniques, colour grading, LUTs etc also applicable for other programs than Final Cut Pro? Thanks a lot and Gruß aus Österreich :)
@pascalbasel2 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, yes, I update it from time to time but most of it is completely camera-independent. SO you can use whatever camera you want. Updates are more based on user inout and when I figure out things that are worth sharing. - You can use the TANGE LUTS for any camera (including a7iv) as these are finishing LUTs. The Fuji LUTs are only for Fuji cameras, but you can use FilmConvert to convert a7if SLOG 2&3 to Fuji and then use the LUTs. - The kit lens and the Sigma 24-70 are fine for what I teach, but if you want the super-wide angle look, you would obviously need a wider lens. It's not important for the course however. My recommendation is the Tamron 17-28mm. Very good value for money if you need that look. - The techniques are applicable to other editors but you find at different places in these editors. However, I'm planning to transition to DaVinci Resolve. So sooner or later there will also be an update for this (will likely take around a year tough as I really need to use it a lot to teach about it) Looking forward to see you in the course.
