For me the minute KZbinrs start to make a lot of money is when it spoils it for the viewer and then is often when I unsubscribe because it becomes too big and I don't, as a viewer, feel so connected plus I've had issues on channels run by gay youtubers with people commenting back to me that I shouldn't be watching because I'm not gay (I once commented that I liked a song, not knowing the singer was gay - I don't care who somebody sleeps with, if I like a song I like it, but I got abuse from gay people for being female and straight). I found you because I have two really good gay friends who live nextdoor to me and I just wanted to understand them a bit more without having to question them and as they say they don't want being gay to be all that they are and I get the same from you. As they said to me once when they were growing up they weren't really represented on TV and KZbin hadn't been invented then but if it had they wouldn't have felt so alone so KZbinrs like you do play an important role.

Elaine R Like your quote of good gay friends next door...
@robarif5265
@robarif5265 7 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Elaine R is our next door neighbour (the picture is a picture of the Town Hall where we live and we were with her when she took the photo!). What she doesn't say is that when we moved next door to her we moved from a different city where we had experienced a lot of racism (my boyfriend is Pakistani and Muslim - believe me that is a hard combination these days) and some homophobia and when we introduced ourselves to Elaine expecting the usual raised eyebrows or stunned silence we got none of that and she just carried on talking and she is a now really good straight friend (but really we are just friends - nothing else matters). She is right what she says - if we had KZbin when we were younger it would have been a lot easier coming to terms with being gay so you do play an important role and we also think that the bigger channels lose a lot of the friendliness when it becomes more about making money so although it may be good for you to make money it's not so good for the people watching.

I've had people comment back to me, questioning why I was watching young people on KZbin when I am 71 years old. They say I must be a perv! I tend to ignore pretentious twits like that . . .

At 51 years old (although apparently I don't act like a 51 year old) I'm an older person as well and I think it keeps you young. I like to think that the majority of people are good people and would never say that about anybody. We are all human beings first and some people need to remember that.

This is my third attempt to comment, the first one I scrapped, the second press the wrong button and lost it. Here we go again, first as always, not tired of saying, I am first a friend then a fan. I get to You Tube because of you, about two years ago this November, I searched this platform called You Tube and noticed your videos. I subscribed and never regretted, life make you find good people and friends in unexpected places. Why, Him & Him, because their core values and hard work are the same as the first time I clicked my first video. I am 52, but really, I learned and laugh so much from this two young men, than from any You Tuber I subscribed. As a gay man, I support this channel, there are so many stories of people caring for each other, learning from each other and getting the help and support on the struggles of being gay, lesbian, straight people getting along with others, relationship issues, you name it. Is been two years almost, I unsubscribed for other channels that lost their core values, get to raunchy or are so commercial. Don't get me wrong, having sponsors are not bad but you noticed when they get to a point of a "door to door vacuums salesman". To those who do not understand how profound your influence are, they do not deserve a minute of explaining. Maybe, 30 seconds... It will be nice to record a 30 seconds video on how this guys make your life a happy one and send that to them as a postcard, just for the fun and support, just an idea... Guys, never get your values and hard work questioned, don't get to the pool of You Tubers greedy for views or subscribers, the reason you start this adventure should be the one that fuels every video, vlog, live event... Love you...

Guys thank you for what you do. I live in the US but a very small town of about 2500. I watch you and others on here to see the normal gay everyday life. YT is my primary source for that because everywhere else in my live I don't see it. So thanks again. As far as the type of videos that you make, I think, a mixture is good. Not everyone is going to like everything but you can't do anything about that. I have always thought that if you make content that you are passionate about and enjoy doing it will show through the video and people will watch.

Forgive me, but I just LOVE to see two guys happy together! I know that You Tube does not pay much! I wish I could do something for you guys, but I am on a fixed income, and cannot afford it. Enough of me- more for YOU guys! It will not pay your bills, but please know that you make me SO HAPPY whenever I see your videos! I hope that your attitude will not be diminished by some of the negative comments- you and everyone else will always get them- it is a hazard of dealing with the public. But please know that there are a LOT of us out there who LOVE the both of you and what you do! I personally wish you a HAPPY AND HEALTHY AND LONG LIFE TOGETHER! Thank you for all you do for ME!

I think what you guys are doing is having a huge impact on the gay community for those just coming out and even for old guys like me who have been out since the late 1800s. I watch quite a lot of gay KZbinrs and I have a tendency to gravitate towards guys like you. You have a smaller fan base and you seem more genuine and real. Once some KZbinrs start living the high life and their videos are about things I will never experience or relate to I lose all interest. Basically, what you guys provide is an environment of inclusiveness and that is very important because a lot of times in the gay community you can still feel like you don't fit in. The media in general paints gays like we're all rich, young party boys...which is wrong. There are probably a good lot of gay guys who don't get out much and for the most part spend their Saturday nights doing laundry. In your videos, silly or not, you show an honest interpretation of a young couple just starting out. You're finding your way...making ends meet...finding happiness in life and love. It's a beautiful thing to witness and I (along with your other followers) appreciate that so very much. Keep doing what you're doing for as long as you like! You are two very beautiful young men...inside and out!

I just found you two today, and I am frustrated that someone could say that what you're doing isn't helping people. Not everything needs to be a big gesture or involve marches and parades. Just imagine how amazing it is for a gay/bisexual/questioning kid or teen (an adult even!) to see your videos and see how happy and normal you get to be. Some people aren't surrounded by examples of healthy same-sex couples, and that can leave a lasting impact. I am a straight, married 26-year old woman from Oregon, and watching your videos today cheered me up and brought me out of a funk I was in. I just love to see other people being happy and in love. Please keep doing what you do.

keep up your good work. i am only 15 years older than u- but that is just enough time for me to have been raised in a time when being gay/bi was much more scary. the amount of persecution and bullying i saw against openly gay ppl when i was growing up caused me to want to hide who i REALLY was. I fell in love with a woman and married young. i did love her, but i wasnt ever fully happy. im thankful for my kids- but i regret being a coward and hiding myself. i am now divorced and on great terms with my ex. i am struggling to decide if now (at 39) it is time for me to live the life i want to live- and live it bravely and openly. watching your videos- the goofy and the serious- brightens my day. i feel as if you were my neighbors or friends. you inspire me to fully embrace who i am and stop hiding. you help me realize a "normal" life is attainable for me. i only hope i can find a partner to share my life with too :) keep doing what u are doing. some ppl are so jaded that they criticize everyone they believe isnt as militant as they are on the front lines of activism. activism is important- but i think you channel is displaying a powerful truth that in itself is a kind of activism: the truth that gay couples are productive and kind members of society who just want to love and be loved like anyone else. i know you don't believe in God- but i do, and the highest compliment and encouragement i can give you is to say GOD BLESS YOU! You may not even realize the important ways you are being used by a higher power to pull ppl who are struggling out of the dark and lonely pit of dispair and onto solid ground. I am one who hopes you are blessed beyond your wildest dreams! Peace be with you!

And now comments from the OLD generation: I have subscribed to your KZbin channel since your third video, unless my aged and enfeebled memory has failed me. And while over the time I've lost interest in some channels and simply come to dislike others, you belong to the very few I continue to follow. I wait with anticipation for your new videos, wake up early to watch them (even on Saturday), and even rerun some of the older ones which have special meaning. Your hard work has cheered me up, entertained me, made me envious of your obvious closeness as a couple (because it was not possible when I was so young), and generally reminds me that we all share common issues throughout the LGBT+ community. For those who choose to denigrate your videos, it's extremely clear that they have absolutely no concept of the time, effort, creativity, and plain courage it takes to put yourselves out there in front of the world. And as for the ones who think you're in it for the money, they've never taken the time to look at Google's "compensation scale." You have welcomed your viewers into your lives, and treated us as family, and we love you for such generosity. If you ever doubt it, just look at the comments and the mail - that should thoroughly erase the question! P.S .: Vous avez même réussi à me rappeler une langue, même maladroitement, que je n'ai pas utilisé depuis trop longtemps!

Hello Bryan and Pascal, anyone who questions the purpose, or possible impact, of KZbin, obviously hasn't any experience with social media, or interest in it. I, personally, enjoy your channel, and similar KZbin channels like yours. I tend to believe the smaller, more personal KZbin channels, like yours, have a positive effect on their audience, almost like a live face to face. I find once a channel gains several hundred thousand, or millions, of subscribers, the intimacy between the KZbinr and the subscriber dissolves. With large channels, very often comments and questions are left unanswered and ignored. The larger KZbinr channel will upload the video and then just step away until next time. You two appear genuine, and sincere in your desire to reach a worldwide audience, and offer what help and advice you can, and I, and all your subscribers, appreciate this. You definitely do make an impact. Keep up the good work.

I can see where you guys are coming from. I say that people need to get to know the KZbinrs by watching their videos before passing any judgement. Maybe they also take for granted that KZbinrs are people themselves who have feelings and sometimes issues too, just like anybody. Regardless, don't let those people get in the way on your videos. I personally enjoyed watching your videos whenever you both are having fun, sharing your lives or talking about LGBTQ+ issues and I always know that, especially since I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community too as you guys are one of my top LGBTQ+ KZbinrs, let alone KZbinrs which I can relate too and learn a lot from you guys.

Dear Pascal and Bryan, I think the wonderful feedback on this video from people of all ages and from all over the world speaks to the broad and positive role that your channel has. I agree with so many of these comments. Rather than repeating them, I will add some new thoughts. The people from other media platforms need to do several things before further criticizing LGBT KZbin channels. First, read all of the comments on this video to understand there is value here. Second, understand we are a diverse community and there are diverse needs. Some need inspiration to come out. Others need to see positive gay couple role models. Still others just need to laugh sometimes. Your channel provides all of these things. Third, media is not an either-or situation. I can watch TV series, talk shows, and KZbin if I want. They should appreciate that each can have value. I enjoy KZbin because I can get to know the people in the videos. In your case, I can become friends. By supporting your efforts through Patreon, I can give back to the LGBT community. It is easier for some people to be negative, but it is better to lead by positive examples. Love you both.

Guys, good morning! Here's another thought. Perhaps there is too much emphasis on the numbers. What is the viewership of your channel in Quebec? In Montreal? Toronto? I would venture to say it is smaller in Quebec than Toronto. But what about the PERCENTAGE of viewership to population? I'll bet you have far more viewers in the New York City area than Quebec, but the percentage of viewership is far lower. Samuel Clemons (Mark Twain) once said, "There are 3 kinds of lies: Lies, damned lies, and statistics!" So perhaps numbers should be left out of the argument, and the real consideration is the response, dedication, and impact you have on the viewers of your content. I would bet that percentage is astronomical compared to most others. Love you guys, keep up the excellent content. Perhaps you have more impact than you even imagined . . .

I do think you should make content in French also...or in both languages.. that would be different and make it more accessible..
