Picking one of these up today to rebuild. Appreciate the look and thorough teardown. Great resource.

Great video! Perhaps it is a low caffeine level issue, but I can't seen to find Part 1 of the Livia 90 Saga. Can't wait until Part 3!

This is Part 1 of the series. Here I take it apart and do a diagnosis of the machine and explain some of the components of the machine. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGbCpnt5ltt0mrMsi=AeNlVv5Adl-aXLjL

Any info on how you diagnose a pressure stat would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are a couple of different pressurestats out there, but if you're referring to the Pasquini Livia 90 one, it's essentially a switch. The white part on the pressurestat where the cables connect is just a switch activated by the pressure plate underneath. The hole where the copper pipe connects has a plate that rises with a spring. As the pressure increases, the plate rises and eventually reaches the switch, which then deactivates the power to the heating element. You can control this plate with the small adjustment screw on the top of the pressurestat. Here's how to diagnose it: If the switch isn't working, it needs to be replaced. If the hole where the copper pipe connects is full of scale buildup, you can descale it, but you'll need a compressor to push air through it until it activates the switch. In general, if the pressurestat is bad, we recommend replacing it since it's a relatively cheap part that plays a crucial role in maintaining your machine's steam pressure. Repairing a defective pressurestat isn't advisable because it can lead to overheating issues, malfunctions, and other problems. If you suspect the pressurestat is faulty, it's best to replace it to prevent potential damage to your heating element, wiring, or other components. Hope this helps! 🙂

Hello I was wondering how you take off the knobs on the steam and water? I was thinking about making some custom ones
@DeLucaEspressoRepair

They have a small cover that can be removed with a small flat head 🪛 or a pick. Then you have a screw that holds the actual knob, remove that and the knob should come out. The knobs can be modified and you can put anything there, we had a customer put a water faucet knob on it and I have put some fancy ones from a commercial machine to a few machines.

Really good video. I have a little later model of the same machine. Will there be a Part 3 of the the video? Thanks

The machine is currently descaled and the only thing missing is painting the frame and case.I am eager to go back and start putting it together once it is ready to mount.

@@DeLucaEspressoRepair I would like to see the descaling video. I've never descaled my Livia 90 with it completely disassembled. Also, do you know where I can get an articulating steam wand? Pasquini doesn't have them. Thanks

Last time I checked we could not find it in stock as well. You can try reaching out to Pasquini and see if they have one available for you. And for the descaling of the machine. I simply soaked the tray that you saw on the video with very hot water and citric acid. I made sure I didn't soak them for long to not damage the parts and then clean them by hand. On Part 3 I'll go a bit over the descalling process as well as the painting process I am doing before the frame and case of the machine. I'm thinking of sandblasting it to fully remove the entire paint but I am Also thinking of a few other alternatives that will make it look like new. There's still plenty of work left to do on this machine so stay tuned for part 3 😁

Can I just use DEZCAL?
@DeLucaEspressoRepair

@@jhford1 Yes, you can use dezcal but follow the instructions of the product. I personally don't like it as it has a very harsh chemical smell that is hard to remove.

By any chance, do you know why my Livia is getting steam out of the group head and very little water?
@DeLucaEspressoRepair
@DeLucaEspressoRepair 8 ай бұрын
That sounds like two possible problems. Either the water pump is not pushing water through the grouphead or the solenoid valve is not opening. If the solenoid valve is not opening it could be a control box issue or the valve itself. Send me a video of the machine on our Facebook page so I could help you better 😊
