When I was in the Marines decades ago I had a buddy who was a Marine MP. We became good buds and he taught me tae kwon do. He also gave me a capital idea which was to always carry a small length of garden hose with me. It should be between 18” to 24” in length with the female end still attached. He said it would accomplish two things, it would not be considered a weapon and it would be highly effective( excruciating pain) without being lethal. He taught me to use it much like you would nunchuks. Very effective. Of course any fight is composed of many differing variables which have to be taken into account.

@@oktoday8323 Your point is once you use it, it becomes a weapon. My point being for those who live in communist states or cities where they cannot obtain a weapon nor carry one unless they jump through mile high hoops. In Brazil, your best bet is to buy a hoe handle, readily available at hardware and agricultural stores. The best wood is a purple hardwood available only in Brazil called "roxinho" (little purple) here. It's very hard, and fairly heavy. Hoe handles are sold separately, and short sticks can be made by simply sawing one to size. You can make two or three from one hoe handle. One advantage is that hoe handles are not perfectly cylindrical, they grow thicker towards one end, which provides for excellent balance. Thank you for your excellent videos!

A quick squat and snapping the wrist to rap the shinbone with it will give you a huge edge, and quite possibly end the confrontation. Another great tool to target shins: steel-toed shoes or boots. If a cop stops me I might have a problem explaining why I have a "stick" or a club in their eyes in my posession and what I was using it for but if I carried a mag light of the same length I can explain I need it for seeing better in the dark.

I live in Delhi and travel in Metro Rail most of the time. In India Delhi, almost nothing is allowed in the Metro, like scissors, Glass bottles, and sticks. I leave home early in the morning or get home late...I've seen people get snatched phones and chains and robbed. So I figured out my legal weapon almost the same as he is showing us. I have a heavy 10-inch roller and marked CM and Inches on it. So security at the Metro gate never bothers me. It's a tool measuring scale man. If anyone gets hit by this, it will be devastating. So be careful when and how to use it.

It should be noted that upward into the solar plexus with both hands is a kill shot. In WWII they taught that method to soldiers for dealing with enemy soldiers if they were somehow disarmed. It ruptures the diaphragm. They're going to die and it won't be pleasant.

I teach 3 very important principles when it comes to all weapons. Most affective use attack, defend against range of the weapon, disarm. Any weapon you choose to use can be taken away from you and used against you. Use of force is huge and then everyones personal level of ferociousness❤

Awesome! Sometimes it's not advantageous, or simply impossible to carry a firearm so I was just recently thinking I need to get myself a stick. Then I ran across your channel. Great techniques. Yep, I'm now subscribed!

You've got a big fckn pocket. If legal. Not legal in Michigan but legal in Indiana, and to that point, in Indiana you could just get a monkey fist keychain and actual walk around with it. Dude is in a mcdogo and I would spar with him but just grappling (,I'm older than I look).

I would prefer something a little longer (if I had a choice) to keep a potential attacker a bit further away from me. I don't quite have the intimidating build you have. Although I do play a fair bit of tennis, so maybe I could hit a little harder than would be expected of someone of my size and age. My grandfather survived over 4 years of gruelling trench warfare in WW1 and received numerous commendations for bravery along the way. For self defence, he was a big fan of using a sturdy walking stick to thrust at the middle of an attacker's body, because it is difficult to parry or dodge. (Fencers call this a centre-line attack).

The British police would love to fit you up with this type of stick and call it an offensive weapon, it is also highly likely they would say that you told them it is for self defence so they could make an example out of you.

True. I train to be able to defend my family. If it weren’t for that I would likely skip the gym more often. But even if you have lost your fitness, still fight.

Love sticks, been carrying sticks since my time in Olongapo at the Kuntaw Temple, but here in Ca. carrying a stick especially concealed can be a real problem for you. That's why my stick of choice is a custom cane, can be taken anywhere including International travel and the most they can do is xray it. Some peace officers will press it and ask for your disability information, which technically I am required to give them if it is in regard to my handicap placard, but its almost never an issue, as you do not have to be certified cripple to use assistance.

Bought something like that with hand grip on one end in the mid 1970's: but after carrying it in my car for twenty years i threw it away because i was always worried about getting charged for murder. But realize that down in the States they need it for self defense. Good video.

More practical to make a walking stick out of hickory. I normally use a 4 ft x 1" aluminum tube with a rubber tip as a walking stick. It would be pretty easy to fit a hickory dowel into the tubing. 😁

Thank you for your videos. Very empowering. I made my my stick out of a broken fiber glass shovel handle. It is about 20 inches long and one end has about about 5 inches of solid steel glued inside giving it a heavy end and a light end. You use it as circumstance dictates. I live in Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea and you need to carry some thing. 🐟

Maple is not so good for canes. My first wood cane was Maple and the crook broke under hard training against a tire. It took about a month, but my hickory cane stood up to everything I hit with it, including a cinderblock and cement papers. Cans of crappy Minnesota micro brew were a lot of gun exploding with cane strikes. I know, alcohol abuse, but I bought the beer for its cool label, knowing it would be overhopped Minnesota ash tray beer.

I took the dowel rod, didn't like oiling it, instead gave it 2 coats of Spar Urethane to waterproof it, mine is 45" long and I use for hiking, call it my "Dog Stick" because I have used it over a dozen times to fend off dogs, for some reason loose dogs see me walking and think I am the postman and attack.

Great video! All my police baton training has been refreshed. Amazing what can be done with a stick. I kind of liked using the small Kubaton on my keyring. Anything goes when your defending your life. And when you go to court, it's a baton, lol, like you're conducting an orchestra.
