I met Gerard. I spoke with him several times. He loves ☕ coffee. Sugar no cream. I didn't even know who he was as an artist, so I got to meet him as a person. The person he is has a wonderfully creative mind. I feel blessed to have met him in this way. Not a fangirl just a person.

I met Gerard in 2003 at Hell Fest in NY standing near the stage waiting to watch a little known band called Murder by Death and we chatted for a bit and he told me to watch the band and that they were among the best bands in the 3 day hardcore/punk/indie festival and he was right! I was so grateful that he introduced me to those guys! Super nice dude

Oh man, I hoped to see Gerard on the show, but wasn't sure if it'd actually happen. It's SUCH a delight to see to of your favourite bands colliding like that. Hopefully I'll be able to catch a show with both of you if/when the pandemic ends. Watching this series, I think my main takeaway is how much smart phones and voice memos have become as tools in the creative process, haha. Thanks for all your work on this!

Watching this now after Doug’s death is really heartbreaking. It sounds like he and Gerard had a really beautiful creative friendship. I hope that after ending the tour and returning home, Gerard is able to step back into that studio and keep writing music, but unfortunately it’ll be hard for him.

the thing that makes me happy for no reason is how good of a listener Gerard is. hearing them say ‘mhm’ or just a simple ‘yeah!’ shows how much he genuinely cares about these topics! :) loved this video
