The live version of Trace is a must watch. Passcode is basically a female version of the band "Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas", check them out as well. They can all sing wihtout the autotune/vocoder effect. They use it to make their songs sound EDM-ish.

Your spot on with the vocals, the cleans are used pretty much as another instrument, they are supposed to be dehumanized to sound 'virtual' as it were it's the whole motif/theme of the group.

Nice PassCode! Don't worry about the autotune/vocoder part because it's part of their motif, they're an electronic loudrock band with idol music, some call them an alternative idols like the Babymetal or the kawaii metal scene. They can actually sing without those effects, you can check that on their old poppy songs/MVs. Vocoders may also hide gasping voice, because they perform while dancing, most hardly difficult for Yuna's(screamer) part. Yes do react to some of their live performance stuff, you'll see how they can pull it live. I suggest or pick "Dive into the live" or "Trace" song, or any other live song as long you can upload it on YT. They were also dubbed as the female version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas band, they also like Maximum the Hormone, it has unpredictable parts on their songs which very interesting indeed. See you on the next J-reaction video ciao! /,,/

I think this is a really interesting chanel. I like your insightful thoughts obviously based on a solid knowledge. This is rare enough. So thank you very much for this! Passcode is one of the most interesting groups coming from Japan. I‘m an old rocker and a die hard Madiac (Band-Maid). I absolutely adore the fearless approach of the Japanese musicians to just jump over the border of the usual song structures and it works seamlessly. Passcode and Broken by the scream are fine examples of it. And yes they can sing for sure. Saw them live in Tokyo and they truly knocked me out of my socks. The dynamic, precision and tightness as well as the stage presence is hard to beat. They are all well trained and can sing properly too. The heavy use of vocoder is part of their sound concept and signature. I don’t like vocoder or autotune if it’s used to cover disabilities in singing, which is clearly not the case with Passcode but can accept and enjoy it if it’s used as a sound element in a creative sound design, like Passcode does. And the ladies are super human too btw 😊 If you are looking for a good live you definitely should try „Bite the bullet“ live: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWm3qGVrgJ2Je80, or „Trace“ live: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZqbqItnn5qiqtU also to get an impression how they drive the crowd crazy

Thanks! I am happy you enjoyed. I will add this to the list. :) I should listen to more of their live vocals and see how good they are live. I reacted to multiple live BBTS videos and they're all amazing so far.

she can sing, the autotune is, iirc, to make her the 'voice of the computer' with Yuna's screams being the 'players' reaction. (I may be wrong, but that is what I heard)

I like your reaction and your analysis. Please check out their live performance, i recommend "Passcode - Trace".i think their use autotune just for effect.
