Congrats on passing! Nice FJ, I have a grand wagoneer and I always hear how difficult it is to pass smog in CA and just like you I leard that as long a you have the original smog gear and everything is working as expected old vehicles like our will pass. Enjoy it!

Congrats man! Your vac line routing is just stellar…mine were all over the place - did you just organize the original lines over the air intake? Or buy new ones to help with length?

Thanks! The original lines were routed similarly with the plastic holders keeping them in place. I just updated the description for this video with the links for the current oem vacuum line replacements. I ordered 15 of the 300mm and 2 of the 600mm to completely replace all of the lines on this 78 CA spec FJ40.

Nice job Gio! What a great reference for myself and others. Do you notice any significant performance difference between the original exhaust (headers) vs. the stock manifold and air pump etc. ?

Yes, it is slower with all of the smog equipment back on.

My rig would never pass, but thankfully, the test isn't required in my state as of yet. Fingers crossed it never is.

@@gio.rodriguez Yeah. It would be disastrous. I have a small block chevy in my FJ40, and there isn’t a lick of smog equipment anywhere - which is probably why it runs so well and reliably 😂

Nobody knows what they are testing. It is as fake as the diesel emission scandal. Why does a car manufacturer hide an issue with the car and only secretly tells the DMV every other year as a surprise for the owner? The most efficient engines are the ones that convert every molecule of the fuel to CO2 and H2O, how do you measure the CO2? Scientists do not know that to this date.
