Just curious as to why some trains in the UK run with one headlight lit and some with both lit. Thanks......

The trains are owned by different companies ,the ones with both lights on are owned by English companies, and the ones with one light on are owned by Scottish companies , using only one light saves money, aye the Scots sure are canny folks.

It varies a lot. The fastest trains in use in Scotland at the moment travel at 125 mph, or around 200 kph. The fastest in England travel at 185 mph, or 300 kph. A new line is soon to be built, initially just through England, but which may one day be extended to Scotland, which will have trains running at up to 250 mph, or 400 kph. They will be the fastest 'classic' (i.e. non-maglev) trains in the World.
