We would take the Delta from Willy Field (where I lived) past Scott Base and into Mac Town. Pick up more pax and out to the Ice runway (where I worked). It was a long slow ride. When I was there in the early 90s, the Delta was named after the driver.

Would something with a heavy cat engine sink in that snow?
@charlie2640
@charlie2640 Жыл бұрын
@@gera3579 From what I remember it largely depends on the weight of the vehicle, the type of ground contact (tires or tracks) and the type of snow. Really soft fluffy snow will bog down almost anything. Give the snow a while to consolidate and it can support more. When I was there there were a couple of "LGP D8"s that could get through a lot and there were really heavy, however they had really wide tracks so they spread out their weight over a wide area.

@@dustindonald9862 Look it my friend. You can drive a straight truck up to 26,000lbs given the state you reside in, on your regular drivers license. Class B is for over 26,001lbs gvwr single vehicle or in combination with a trailer weighing less than 10,000lbs loaded. Class A CDL is for trailers that weigh 10,001lbs+ by itself or loaded and that also includes the Gross combination weight rating of the towing unit and trailer. I’m literally looking at mine, Class A means you can drive any combination vehicle or straight truck with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs or more, which means you can drive anything below that, provided it isn’t a vehicle that requires an endorsement, such as tankers, hazardous materials, or passenger vehicles
@Briebabcock8052

@@Setupjustsoicancomme Really, cause my Class B license says otherwise. It says, I can drive any single vehicle unit that weighs more than 26,001lbs or gross combination weight rating (I.e. a trailer loaded or unloaded) weighing less than 10,001lbs.

@@Setupjustsoicancomme And I have my tanker endorsement and my air brake endorsement along with the fact my class B is unrestricted. Example- Bus drivers have their class B license which meams they can drive a class 8 bus. From what youre trying to say is that every single bus driver, all my co-workers that I work with for public road construction that have their class B cdl and tanker endorsement that drive tandem dump trucks, cdl forestry trucks and such are illegal. Which is a bull face lie. You license is going to tell you what you are legally able to operate. It does not tell you that because yours says this... The fuel door on Ivan the bus said JP8... Is that correct... Ivan runs on jet fuel? Its turbine powered?
@ae7iwkg6gap
@ae7iwkg6gap 5 жыл бұрын
JP-8 is just #1 diesel (kerosene) with additives to help it with various challenges at altitude in flight. The most important is keeping the fuel liquid and free of ice. That same cold pour point, etc. makes JP-8 jet fuel far better diesel fuel in cold weather. If I didn't have additive for #2 diesel for cold weather, I'd either blend kerosene or run 100% kero to keep my pickup running in sub zero weather.

@@michaelmccarthy4615 Precisely, except for the gasoline powered engines.
