I've had so much success with this pass people have started expecting it and trying their best to turn into me so I've been getting a leg weave with my arm on their bottom leg and circling towards what would be their front but is now sort of their back. Thank you Dom!

I'm having a hard time visualizing that word spaghetti, but I'm stoked it's working for you!

Thanks! These are much easier to upload, but not as much fun to edit haha. I'll start doing some other stuff as well, like analysis videos and commentary on my own matches.

You're a long step guy eh? I can do that.

Is it possible for them to work for the inside senkaku (the leg lock position that Craig Jones and Gordon Ryan get their inside heel hooks from) from the knee through the butterfly hook?

This was really good, thank you especially since the leg weave is one of my favourites. Just wondering if you could do a video on general passing concepts? Basically a video saying: whenever you are passing, you should do/be doing this ___
@DubiousDom6 жыл бұрын
Varun Mehrotra that would take more than one video, but it’s definitely something I can work toward. I’m glad the video was helpful!

I got you fam! When passing you should: 1. Go around the legs. 2. Don't get caught between the legs as you perform step 1.

Loved the video! How many times do you train a week?
@DubiousDom6 жыл бұрын
20 hours per week tops. I also find time to work in strength and conditioning as well as drilling.
@maxwillems82006 жыл бұрын
Do you have any general tips on how to "get good"? I only have the opportunity to train twice per week, and looking you just being you makes me almost jealous. How did you go from artist and former soldier to a gold medal machine? Cheers from the Netherlands!
@DubiousDom6 жыл бұрын
It's all about time management first. Those two training sessions per week need to be hyper productive, to milk as much experience as you can out of that hour and a half or so. No chatting during drilling, no sitting rounds out, and be very efficient with your drilling (you have two minutes to drill, hit as many as you can in that time, no lollygagging!). After that, you need to be sure you're filling gaps in your knowledge. These are easy to find. Take any roll that you lose, and find what caused you to lose. Did you not play the half-guard well, and they got the underhook? Did you not address the Single Leg X properly? Write them all down, and research answers to these situations. Anything that you get stuck on. Build up a library of answers for every situation. Every. Single. One. This is going to take years, but this is a broad goal to work toward and the day WILL come when you have an answer for 99% of situations. Now, you should be drilling. Really focused drilling, whenever you have time. Drill the aforementioned problems before class, during open mat, during your lunch break at work, whenever you can. Even if it's only 5 minutes, it will make a difference. Finally, you should focus your training. Those techniques you were working on? You should pick someone you're more experienced than, and practice them in your rolls A LOT. Hit that Single Leg X entry 10 times in a single roll, letting them recover and doing it again. Tell yourself you're only using the kneecut to pass tonight, and work it on everyone. Just play spider guard and only do the triangle you've been working. Rolling is the perfect time to drill. There's plenty more I could tell you, but this should give you a general idea of how I personally like to get the most out of my training. I hope this helps you, good luck!

Dubious Dom Thank you so much! I know for a fact that I'm doing all of the things you mentioned above, except for the drilling. Whenever I get home, I think about the things that went wrong, and I believe I have around 9 private playlists on KZbin on escapes, sweeps, submissions, positional concepts etc. The only thing that I'm really missing, is the drilling. I'm going to focus a bit more on that, then! Again, thank you so much! Cheers from the Netherlands!

The title is a little misleading. Usually 'leg weave' refers to when the passer weaves his arm through the guarder's knee shield. In this video it's really just a DLR pass.
@DubiousDom6 жыл бұрын
J. I use “leg weave” when referring to weaving my leg through their legs. I use “arm weave” when referring to weaving my arm through their legs.

So I've been trying this out in class and I've found i can get into the position well but when I'm there I can't free my posting leg, your left in the video, from their hook. I believe you said to go to the side smash position? Could you please elaborate?
@DubiousDom6 жыл бұрын
@ 3:04, that position, they're hooking your left leg? Am I understanding correctly?
@orangeInc3116 жыл бұрын
Dubious Dom so if I was you they'd be hooking my right leg, I really hope we can sort this out because I really like this pass!
@orangeInc3116 жыл бұрын
Oh I'm very sorry I said left in my earlier post
@DubiousDom6 жыл бұрын
I know what you're talking about now. I like to use my left thigh to nudge his shin (and consequently, the foot that's hooking you) a little forward, then step my leg back in a big exaggerated arc. You're going to need to get a partner and invest time with it in order to feel the proper positioning and shin-leg manipulation to make it work, but it gets easier. I hope this helps!
@orangeInc3116 жыл бұрын
Dubious Dom oh I didn't think of that. I was just trying to arc my leg over and their toes would catch on my GI on leg. I will definitely try this out thank you very much. I almost feel like a criminal for getting this for free, usually you have to pay for this!
