Part of rallying is being ready to adapt to conditions and obstacles. Finding a slower car in front of you on stage shouldn't happen with minute gaps between starts, but it is something you'll encounter if you're climbing speed factors.
We caught up to this car toward the end of one of our stages at Olympus last year, and they didn't know we were there with a rear windshield covered in mud, focused on the road ahead and not on the tiny side mirrors. We eventually found a slightly sketchy spot to pass despite the push-to-pass button, flashing our lights and honking the horn; they didn't notice we were on their tail prior. The result cracked the windshield, lights, and our condenser (yes, we still had AC in the car). Could have been worse, the race went on for both of us and we were able to stay ahead for the remainder of the race!
