Passing the Torch: Lisa Bluder Retires, Jan Jensen Hired as Head Coach of Iowa Women's Basketball

Well, that was a surprise. Monday afternoon, Lisa Bluder announced her retirement after 24 years as the head coach of the #Iowa women's basketball team. Just a half hour later, assistant Jan Jensen was named head coach.

Lisa Bluder is a great coach who set a high standard for ethical conduct and always carried herself with class. I have never heard anyone say a negative word about her as a person, and her players seem to have universally respected her. That is rare in a high profile job like that. She will be missed very much by all Iowa fans. She was so consistently good and all her teams had character and were fun to watch. I am sure Jan is a great coach in her own right, but I bet she learned a lot from Lisa.
