You can double up DK weight Tk a 4-5 weight yarn. The pattern you chose and the yarn is very pretty. You know, Bag-O-Day probably has a hundred or more free hat tutorials for you to enjoy. She’s got lots of cute patterns and she makes them all easy to follow. ❤❤

That yarnsmiths yarn is exactly like the Caron Blossom Cakes that Michaels sells, and that color story is called crocus and is my favorite yarn at the moment. It does say 4 weight on the label. Loving these hats, and I might have to bring a basket of hats to my family gathering because I've been making so many since early November... ❤

Before I learned to k it and had just started getting into crochet as an adult ( after learning with my Nana when I was very young), I loved to crochet hats. Once I learned to knit and also developed neuropathy, I haven't crocheted a hat since. I love a knit hat even though it takes longer, it's worth it to me.

What I do with small amounts of scrap is crochet either two stars or two hearts, sew them together and use puffy paint to add names to them so they can be ornaments that double as gift tags that match the gift

Ive always loved HappyBerry Crochet's pattern. You can find her here on KZbin. The tutorial is so old lol but the hats work up in an hour or less and fit great. She also shows you all universal sizes. I love the form fitting ones as well. Ive made about 15 so far this holiday for gifts and everyone loves them 😊🎄. I love the beanie you made. The colors remind me of a mermaid tail 💜🩵

A crochet hat Im currently obsessed with is The Country Cottage beanie from Turtle Trunks! It's done in the round from the top down and still has a fold up brim. She's got a tutorial on KZbin, free pattern on her website, and you can purchase an ad free pattern. I tried it once at the end of November and have since made 7 including a few for christmas presents! Pretty similar to the one you started because it's dc and front post dc but just different in the way it's worked and the brim. She's got a whole collection that match too, I'm planning on trying the christmas stockings at some point! I'm not normally a big fan of in the round hats since I tend to find it a bit harder to make it to the right size but these ones are so stretchy hence why I'm proper raving about it and have made so many in the past few weeks 🤣

I think there are many great crochet beanie patterns! The one you chose is nice. Tunisian crochet, which can be made nice and stretchy, also works well. Egoistically, I hope you make more because I find watching crochet more fun. 😊 (I don’t knit.)

Love both colors, the 1st one you finished knitting from last night & the light blue color one you’re crocheting. Pretty hat. Ceazer (sorry if I’m not spelling it right), doesn’t know Dick Clark!!!! There's this really amazing short-row beanie that gives a knit look- although the patterns I've used stitch up the side and don't work in the round. But they are really awesome and fun to make and may be worth checking out.

You make knitting look so easy. I just started to learn how to knit. I got the hang of how to do the stitches BUT trying to hold it correctly to keep the loop or yarn slip off. Oh I like the hat on you. That yarn is beautiful!

Really relate to prefering to knit hats over crocheting them, I hate crocheting a hat in the round when I love the stretchiness and prefer the look of a knit hat in the round much more. I also hate sewing up the seam on like the flat lay crochet hats. I love crocheting! But any beanie I make will always be knit!

The pebble haze is lovely the do an Aran weight too. Yarnsmiths is woolwarehouse own brand it’s a bit hit n miss not all the full acrylic is soft but their merino sock yarn is sublime and the pebble haze and nirvana are so soft

I’m in love with both hats. You’re definitely pushing me to want to learn how to knit. My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was 7/8 years old and she tried teaching me how to knit but I wasn’t able to hold the needles and wrap the yarn around the needle…it was just so much easier for me to crochet. But like I said because of you I’m really considering learning how to knit.

I like the Alpine stitch, but also like fold up brims. I do a Short Row Crochet beanie or a crown down in the round that I love. The Short Row does need stitched up the side. As long as you end on the edge where you started, or if it's a 6 bulky, you barely see the seam. Plus, a simple mattress st makes it go fast & easy. Sometimes, I'll do a beanie in the round & end with a blosc brim to roll up.

You might like some of Wild Sapling's crochet hat patterns. I've been really enjoying them and several have nice stretch like your knit beanies. Especially the lonesome highway beanie pattern. Oh I guess the one I recommended it crocheted flat and seamed up but it's not super hard or tedious so... Up to you. Tzigns, MJ's Off the Hook, Spotted Horse Design all have a few cute ones that I've seen. For knit beanie patterns you might like smeeny made wild. Love her patterns so much. Oh oh and Brian K has some cute crochet ones. Ok I'll stop listing patterns lol. I've seen a ton of good ones. 😅 Getting close to done on the shawl for my mom and sort of close on the poncho I think. The poncho is a bit more involved than I originally thought even all the single crochet with an 8mm took a long time.
