Very unique experience, love it! I was amazed by how the sapphires come out from the Mother Earth!

I live close to this area and definitely craving to visit the mine. Any videos and reports of Gem Mountain are incredibly favorable for finding specimens. There's another sapphire mine right near Helena, MT called the Spokane Bar Sapphire Mine that would be worth a try as well

Square sieves seem so weird. On the Ankle Gemfields we work with a pair of round sieves, two different size mesh, that fit one on top of the other and check a layer at a time. You don’t have the mix of large and small gravel and it’s easier to spot your stone. Easier to flip too. Most people here use potato sacks on their work top, they absorb excess water.

"Seeded" gravel in her Mega-Jug. No fun. There's no way that the sapphires would congregate all in one spot like that unless they just tossed a handful of small ones into the jug as they packed it. (6:00) That's not finding gemstones. It is more like an easter egg hunt. The kiddies are "finding" the stones where someone hide them, in a jug. I'd rather dig and sift directly from the pits/piles/banks of gravel to find my keepers. Then you actually can lay a claim to it.

While I'm not going to argue the gravel isn't seeded because I have no way of knowing if they did that, what I do know is that big clump of gems (where they "congregate all in one spot" as you say) is exactly what you'd expect to see in gem-rich alluvial gravel deposits, and is literally the reason they shake the screen before flipping it in the first place. They aren't just doing that because it, I don't know, looks cool or something, they're doing it because it makes it way easier to find and pick out the gemstones. The reason that happens is that many precious materials collected in this way, like gold, garnet and corundum (sapphire and ruby), are heavier than most other gravel materials, meaning they will always collect in a big clump right in the bottom-middle when you gently shake a screen full of gravel back and forth (which becomes the top-middle when you flip the screen). Again, it's possible they're seeding their paydirt so tourists will always get the experience they come for, or specifically for this video as a form of free advertising, but it's not like that because a "handful of small [sapphires]" was lazily tossed into a bucket all in a clump and came out in the same clump. It's because of the physical properties of sapphires.

You can buy gravel from the Blue Sapphire Mine of Montana on the internet, you can buy garnet/ruby gravel or sapphire gravel! I have and you actually find lots of both so they aren't just making it up, but you have to look close. It isn't too hard either though, my mom needs glasses but she is able to find some even without them on.
