Thanks for posting this video. My daughters and I were at your Chicken Chat on Saturday, which we thoroughly enjoyed and were very impressed with Poultryville. Keep up the great work breeding these Heritage chickens and ducks and educating the public!

I also enjoyed seeing the large ribbons and trophies that the kids won for their birds at the Competition!

Another great video from Mr Smith. We are crazy about our BIRDS, chickens, geese, ducks and Peacocks. Not too fond of turkeys after our experience with 2 rather aggressive Toms, but they ran away with the wild turkeys, thank goodness.

You happened up on my KZbin the other day, and I subscribed. I am so glad I did. If I could press the "like" more than once I would have pressed it several times while watching this.....

Thanks for being a great leader/teacher. After seeing your PBS Show on Chickens, I viewed more of your video's. I have been planning my time in retirement by preparing my land for trees, gardening, and now I am thinking of animals too. Do you sell any of your heirloom chickens?

They're so cute! I couldn't kill and eat them. How do you compartmentalize being affectionate with them and then slaughtering them?

Thank you for this video! I’ve been raising backyard chickens for about 10 years now. We live in town and are only allowed eight chickens in our city. I let them free range and enjoy watching them so much. Even my dogs get along fine with the chickens. The problem I have is that they do so much scratching and pecking in my garden and my grass that they have nearly completely destroyed the look of my perennial beds and lawn. Any great suggestions on how to live with chickens in your garden?

I am an unabashed chicken lover. I have 6 buff orpingtons, all named after hollywood blond bombshells ha ha. I saw your video on ducks and have always wanted to get one or two layers (not for meat, my birds are all friends). But I worry that I must have a water feature to support them properly. What is possible without getting a backhoe in? Or must I put my dream aside and stick to chickens.

Predators are number one concern but what about the water quality of the lake?

I have chickens too I have to restrain myself to avoid chicken math. I enjoy them as pets, no roos allowed. I hada beautiful golden campine roo but had to cull him due to not finding a home. I hated doing it. I have two plymouth rocks and astrolorps, brahmas, dorking, and a few others. they are my little friends I spend time with them let them free range in the spring (when three is sufficient cover for them and when I can be outside looking after them from predators) a neighbors dog once came in my yard unexpectedly and almost got one of my astrolorps. anyway wonderful little hobby.

I love all birds , only turkies are somewhat different for me. They give me the creeps. They are somewhat horrible. But I would not hurt and kill them either.
