Hey Chris. You should let the passion fruits ripe a little more to get the yellow color you are looking for. Wait until the skin gets a little wrinkled then use it. Love your posts, keep up the good work

To me this drink is the real thing. Years ago I used to see my Mom using a piece of brown cotton cloth and with the passion fruit seeds in the cloth would wring it tight, to get all the juice from it. Geeze!..afterwards your wrist tired..Blend and strain is so much easier. Thank you Chris, great job with this simple but exotic juice.

most welcome.. I recall my mom doing something similar too, to get the juice and seeds separated

If you have an Omega Vert juicer you can run the collected pulp & seeds through it and it filters all the seeds out, leaving you with perfect Passion Nectar. I then pour it into ice cube trays, freeze & then ziploc bag the cubes for later use. I've got a bumper crop of them this year and they are just starting to ripen. Some the size of tennis balls! (Escondido, Calif.)
@tabithaswann25667 жыл бұрын
We do it differently. We cut the passion fruit in halves, put the pulp in a strainer. Then we use a spoon and moving the pulp back and forth until there's only seeds left. We also add water to help remove the pulp. Add water and sugar to sweeten for taste. When its done the juice should be a bright yellow and not cloudy like this. We never use a blender hence the reason why it looks like this.
@caribbeanpot7 жыл бұрын
Tabitha, what you mentioned is the way my mom and others taught me. However, for less work I do use the blender now. Also note that the variety of passion fruit we get in the Caribbean.. the pulp is much more yellow.

That looks like it would be awesome with peach or pomegranates. I can't use sugar so those 2 fruits would be the added sweetness or some coconut water.

If you let the fruit ripen you don't need the sugar at all. Passion fruit is so good for you, sugar isn't. You can wait for the skin to get wrinkly even for perfect ripeness. Or a little give to the skin. I like the seeds, I use to make ice cream. You need to learn more about healthier way of eating fruit. Sugar is never needed with sweet fruit. I see people using sugar with strawberries or in pies like apple pie, ah ruining a good desert.

1. I was in the military 2. Why not ask the origin of the use of "whats up soldier" before spouting? In MY culture (The Caribbean) it's a friendly terms used when greeting friends. NO Association with WAR!
