Thanks for the video, I wonder if what is going on the other side of the fence had anything to do with it? Could it be that the neighbour sprayed some grass killer along the edge of the fence?

I didn't think of that, I should ask. They are a great neighbour.

Great vine, so many fruits.👍 So nice thing to see, such a treat for the eyes. Mine passion fruit in the greenhouse had only three fruits this summer. It is grown from cutting and the old vine died after 4 years. Here in 6-7 USDA zone I can only grow passilflora caerulea without any protection but taste isn't that good.

Thanks for yr video. Iv got 3 passionfruit vines in Perth Planted spring 2021. 2 vines have betwern 2 and 4 passionfruit, bur they wont ripen. Theyve been green for months, decent size, but wont ripen. Do you know why.? All 3 full sun, gets adequate water. They were planted in decent soil that we raised so growing with about 30cms deep soil, as natural ground very bad grey clay. Can you help please with any advice.

All I can say is to try other varieties. I've had a few duds that either didn't fruit or tasted awful.

I have the purple and the tropical yellow both in pots. The yellow is not Cold or frost tolerant Panama is frost sensitive, I also have a grenadilla in a pot too
@xrsjohnm3 жыл бұрын
The purple will take lite frost and is the most productive yours is growing on a brick wall and has some overhead protection under the eaves
@xrsjohnm3 жыл бұрын
The brick wall retains and gives heat at night is a very good micro climate for passion fruit.

That vine on the wall of your house is very productive & healthy. I 💯 agree with the other poster on here, re your passionfruits on the fence, they look to have been poisoned by weed spray or a strong fertiliser from next door. You are right, that fence is the perfect spot to grow passionfruit
@RealLifeFruitopia3 жыл бұрын
I hope the neighbour didn't spray, I'll ask when I see them. The back fence is around 30 inches from where the 2 passionfruit are planted, unless the roots of the vines traveled in the direction of the fence, I doubt the spray from the other side would reach the plants.

@@RealLifeFruitopia Trust me, spray reaches in many places, it's not just what is sprayed on the ground, which can leach to the roots of your plants. Also ' spray drift' is what can cause major damage to plants & even old/established trees. Spray/pesticide particles float in the air, it doesn't take much to kill plants. That back fence is the perfect position for your vines, they would thrive there. I'm sure your neighbour would not kill your plants on purpose, but he wouldn't be aware that it's happening. Even a fertiliser that is watered into the grass on his side , can affect your plants. At my previous home, our neighbour grew nothing, except his lawn, his weed spray killed all my more fragile fruits & plants in that side, we couldn't do anything about it. Thank goodness, we live on some acreage in a new region & I don't have that problem. Sorry for long post, but I see how you are growing, nurturing & working hard to maintain your beautiful tropical oasis, just giving you an idea of what could be happening to your vines, a barrier of some kind could help stop the issue

Awesome looking Maracuja, i got a couple of them too in pots, but had to cut them back to half the size because they reached the ceiling, yes they are indoor plants. If you want a really sweet Passionfruit, id say 9/10, go with the Sweet Grenadilla (Passiflora ligularis), i bought one a couple weeks ago and damn was it sweet and delicious, instantly saved some seeds and sowed them.

I've read many good reviews about Granadilla. I'm not sure if there's enough room on the front brick wall for two vines though, I'll get one when available.

That spot where the passion fruit has died is perfect for inca nuts (star nuts) to grow and climb. I've never heard you talking about it. Hope you try it 😉
