The moral of the story is "Take care of your eyes". Wear eye protection. Don't stare at the sun. Don't stare at the water. Don't sit on a beach and stare at the water. Don't look at your computer screen all day. Don't look at your phone all day. Do everything in moderation.

Oamaru is an interesting little town. Oamaru stone is a limestone. This stone is a composite of millions of years of shells collecting on the sea floor and then being compressed into rock. Then like much of NZ - raised up out of the ocean by tectonic plates pushing together and lots of earthquakes as many may be aware of. Thus the surrounding hills of Oamaru are made up of these limestone formations. Port access is possible but not so easy as it is quite shallow.
