Passive Radon System With High Radon Levels 33! HD 720p

"Just activate the passive radon system" they tell me. With radon levels at 33 pCi/L,
that passive radon system is no more than a pipe with the word, RADON, written on it.
We also had a suction loss incident as well.

I just found out my level is 13.3 + 2%. I tested the level over a period of one year. How quickly must I move to correct this problem? We have lived here for 4 yrs. My three adult children sleep on the lower floor of our home. Must I take everything out of my cellar to work on the issue? How much does it cost to fix the problem?

Hi Michael. I am more concerned about the 90 degree turns in the system rather than actual pipe length because the length of pipe is in proportion to the home which we can't change but 90 degree elbows add a significant amount of pipe length in theory with drag or friction. Hope that helps.

Hi Eli. That used to bother me as well . We are trying to draw air out from under houses that we had no part in building and that is exactly what I tell the customer in advance. More work will unfortunately cost them more money. Like a doctor, I feel that we must charge for the work- not the results.

Smoke pen those leaks! I was waiting for you to do it but never did. Or at least didn't show it. Those are a great tool for finding suction loss. Good for rerouting the stack though! What was the retest level?

You are right Chuck. Radon levels dropped to 2 pCi/L. Oddly the high ones tend to drop low and fairly quick. Thanks for your comments.

@@radonman6800 That's good to know. I have one to do in a few weeks that's at 34pCi/L as well. Sealing is definitely going to be my friend on that one. Many large cracks. Keep it up! love the videos!

What was the final level when you were done? How come you don't use gauges and test holes at the far edges of the slab?

Hi Don, oddly, the jobs with really high levels tend to fall drastically once a system is installed correctly. The manometer serves as a good gauge for air flow. As for the additional gauges and test holes, etc..you're not wrong.
