Thank you for your great content. Just a note to the image size. If you want to appear in google discover your image needs to be 1200px wide. For example, food bloggers want to use this image size in their featured images. But it is good to compress the file size to under 200, plugin like imagify or shortpixel is good. Also tinypng works for this.

Thanks for the tip. I have never had a site in the food niche or went after the Discover traffic, but it's definitely worth looking into, thanks!

We programmed it ourselves. That said, it's not really worth it unless you have at least a couple of 100,000's pageviews - VERY few people interact with it.

So I've been using Linkwhisper since your last video about it. What an amazing tool! I don't know if it had a direct impact on traffic but no doubt it's helping my pages rank. Before I had several pages which Google just didn't want to pick up, but after I made the links they got picked up by Google in a couple of weeks.

Very helpful, thank you Morten! Just a quick note that I don't use any images within the article for my new website (although I do use thumbnails for the content category listings in WordPress). Part of the reason is that, as you say, most ads these days have great graphics including videos. Also, I hope that no image within the posts makes the Table of Contents plugin more attractive for navigating the content.

Hi @Passive Income Geek Thank you for the great content! Quick question if I may - If I tweak and re-edit the articles on an existing site (with the intention of improving the quality) will I need to wait 6 months to see if there has been an improvement in the rankings, or is Google generally quicker with articles that have already been indexed and ranked? Thanks once again for your content. I came across your channel through a video you did with WP Eagle and have been devouring your videos ever since. I hope to start your course this week. 🙂
@PassiveIncomeGeek3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! Great question. In my experience, it's not a new start with Google. If you only update like 10-20%, many times you will not lose anything. But with bigger re-writes, expect 2-5 months - depending on how established the site is. It's always worth it though! if you are improving the content!

Bro, thanks for sharing the insights. I have a question, do you lazy load Ezoic ads and display them as the user scrolls down the page or all the ads are loaded on page-load? How do you optimize Ezoic ads for page speed? I was watching a video by Mediavine and they explained how they load ads on scroll, on page load they just load ads above the fold. Is this also possible with Ezoic?
@PassiveIncomeGeek3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, with Ezoic we now have the free LEAP tool that takes care of all these things! It's free for all users.
@varunrai93393 жыл бұрын
@@PassiveIncomeGeek Thanks for your reply. Would you recommend sticking to Ezoic after 50k sessions or you suggest moving to mediavine? Many people complain that Ezoic shows a lot of ads on the page which ruins the page experience. Is this still true in your websites that you are running with Ezoic or the number of ads that show up with Ezoic and Mediavine are more or less the same?

Heey Morten great and very helpfull video. Today I will publish a new article and I am going to use you checklist :) I also have an important question: in the last week I rewrote an article and now I also want to use a 301 redirect for this article because the url is very long. Does a 301 redirect harm my seo ranking for this page? Iam very happy that I found your youtube channel. Your video's are very helpfull for me and it motivates me to create a succesful blog.
@PassiveIncomeGeek3 жыл бұрын
301 will force a reindex - and sometimes it's smooth - othertimes not so much. Changing the URL always will always cause that. However, I'd not redirect to get a prettier URL - just stick with it. The URL is a VERY small ranking factor. LOTS of huge sites have super-long URLs.

Niches like tech need a lot of images in a content. Mostly they have tutorials. How can they manage images and ads simultaneously in a post to not make it long?
@PassiveIncomeGeek3 жыл бұрын
You will maybe have to tone down the ads on such an article. Take a good look at it with all ads enabled and see if it makes sense, otherwise, make adjustments.

Image size matters for google discovery as well as AMP. Google says: "Include compelling, high-quality images in your content, especially large images that are more likely to generate visits from Discover. Large images need to be at least 1200 px wide and enabled by the max-image-preview:large setting, or by using AMP. Avoid using a site logo as your image."
@demo71913 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this comment! How about videos?
@PassiveIncomeGeek3 жыл бұрын
I don't care about AMP, now we can all rank up there and AMP pages are not that relevant for us using display ads.
