So basically as an Indian to write our O/A level equivalent exam, we need to make hall tickets for them. And one thing about my dad is that to follow all the 'rules' (idek if half of them ARE implemented because none of my friends followed them) my dad will not back down from making me look the ugliest possible in the photos for my official documents. I still beef with him about it lol. So for my A levels hall ticket, the photo he took was already horrible. And then my school people for SOME UNKNOWN HELLISH REASON widened the photo sideways. Not even diagonally to increase it proportionally but just straight up from the sides. My face looked like a horizontal oval, my nose looked 5 inches wide, my already small cat/almond eyes looked disgustingly narrow. I GENUINELY looked like a serial killer cow. But ykw whatever, I hid the hall ticket, my friends good naturedly teased me but also told me there's no way I come close to looking like that irl everything was fine. On the day of my biology exam, I arrived in the exam hall with washed silky hair, glowing skin, my lips were redder and plumper and I actually looked like I slept because biology is my best subject and I hardly stressed for it. The invigilator looks at the hall ticket before exam start and goes 'what happened while talking this photo???' and I was like '......idk'. Didn't feel like a compliment more like an unnecessary comment because there's no way even at my realistic worst do I look like a horizontal oval serial killing cow but ig it's a compliment

It’s because we’re constantly burden with our own image all day everyday. From selfies and zoom to mirrors and even reflections in car windows force us to look at ourselves more than we ever have in history and then we start to obsess over every tiny little detail on our skin. Then we put on makeup to hide those little imperfections we’ve made up in our head and gaslight ourselves into believing that we’re not pretty without makeup. When I was in high school I wouldn’t be caught dead in public without at least eyeliner on because I genuinely thought people would see me as some ugly freak if I was bare faced when in reality no one gave af about me😂 now I’m 23 and haven’t worn foundation since 2017 and hardly wear makeup. If you change how your face looks with makeup, it's harder for them to verify you with the biometric portion saved on your passport. Many people who go overseas for surgery have to undergo getting a new passport because they don't look the same too

One thing you should not forget when taking your passport photo is the following: you need your passport when you're travelling. When you travel, you'll be stuck in a car or plane for a few hours, either dead tired from driving, or just woken up from dribbling at the back seat. You wouldn't have moved for more than an hour, and you probably have thousand of layers if it's cold, or are very very sweaty if it's hot. You'll probably be annoyed when stuck in a seat for hours. You are not going to look good when travelling (probably). Your photo should look like you in your travelling state.

I applied for a job with Doordash to have a little extra income a few months ago. Anyhoo, they ask for a selfie, and a photo of your drivers license, to verify identity. I promptly receive an email stating that I did not get the job, because my identification could not be verified. Let's just say, I understand this very well. Lol!😂

I had my picture taken professionally for my passport. I wanted to tuck my hair behind my ears because I KNEW my face would blend out with the background. But the photographer tied it and told me to remove my stud earrings. The ears should show. But then she photoshopped the heck off my face. I looked like a boiled egg, all smooth and no blemishes! My friend said I looked like a pre-teen having an identity crisis. 😂 I took a selfie with a light makeup filter on it, adjusted the colors and had it printed. I left the imperfections on my face and I was happy to see that I still looked recognizable sans makeup.

Fun fact: you should get any and all important ID pictures taken with a clean face. I have a beard, my ID has me clean shaven. No matter how you alter your face, you will still have a base foundation. That base foundation can be unrecognizable with the right look. That sounds contradicting, but I don't make the rules

this is what i hate about airports, one time me and my twin sister were trying to fly to go see our dad and they almost didn’t let my sister on cause they said she didn’t look like her picture cause her hair was straightened in it and she wasn’t wearing her glasses in the photo(which u arent even allowed to do cause then there would be a glare ) . she took her glasses off and the guy was just like “oh”. stg men need to learn how different makeup and hair textures can make u look slightly different, they should’ve been able to tell it was her based on the facial features not hair or glasses that’s ridiculous

When I lived abroad I had to fly back and forth at least once a momth. I took my passport picture in a photo booth at 3am, 3 days of no sleep, no makeup, glasses and I lost about 10 kgs a month after. Still get taken into border police office every single time I travel. Can’t get into clubs most of the time and getting it replaced will be expensive af💀💀

i got a citizencard for my ID to go out because i kept losing passports and the card is so much cheaper, you apply online and upload a recent photo, maybe that’s worth looking into?

Putting on no effort in real life, but the exact opposite on your id/passport pic is just so crazy to me. That's why I prefer to just do what I do usually and apply a normal amount of makeup, just like I do in real life. Too glammed up if you usually don't do that irl might really get you into trouble.
