Correction: The soundfont for Moto G8 Power Lite is *not* exclusive to that phone, it is just an Android soundfont.

No duh there, I recorded it with my phone and that's the same result. Guess it's a Linux/Android thing Also did a similar one with the Roland Virtual Soundcanvas years back too.

indeed, all android devices have the same soundfont (left unchanged ever since it's implementation in the OS). I just used my phone name since it was what I had at the time and also because of potential audio quirks with the headphone jack or file manager (such as being really quiet, my current phone, Motorola Moto G13, the default file manager plays midi's really loud (sometimes clipping causing major distortion))

I seriously can't listen to this without thinking about the cs188 version now. "ORDER TODAY! ORDER WINDOWS! ORDER FUCKIN' WINDOWS TODAY!"

Dang. After that cs188 ytpmv, KZbin recommended me this. How scary!
The Roland GS was the most faithful to the piece. I had sudden memories of my old IBM Aptiva when the Soundblaster 16 came on.

My favorite has to be 06:12 Falcosoft Midi Player 6 (Bass SF2) besides the classic 00:00 Windows (Roland GS Wavetable Synth. Love the vid!

Cool video, enjoyed all the oscilloscope views too. The MT32 version was very clean without any glitch or wrong instrument. Did you had to adapt the MIDI file to select the right patches on the MT32 or it worked straight out of the box? BTW I have a cover of passport.mid on my channel, if you're interested :-)
@Boycraft184622 жыл бұрын
With the MT32, the VST I use automatically wraps the GM instruments to their respective MT32 instruments. If a GM instrument does not have a MT32 equivalent, it uses the custom patch feature to have that instrument playable on the MT32.

May I add that the Yamaha keyb is basically XG Lite based so it feels more natural, compare it to the older MU series MIDI modules with full XG

That moto g8 was a crime against humanity. Yamaha OPL3 & iPod 5.5th gen sounded the best. OPL3 sounded like a gameboy which is cool & the iPod just sounds good a.f. Last one too PSR-E323

@@TheGameboyNerd23 yep. I was looking down the list and saw the midi plugin sitting there. It didn't come with the Soundfont though so I had to source that, can't remember which one it was but I got it from the rockbox website when looking at the wiki... I think

Y'know, Soundblaster 16 (Yamaha YMF262), the main instrument sounds like Doom.
@Boycraft18462 Жыл бұрын
Doom also used midi files for its main soundtrack. For many People, the soundblaster was the card installed on their computer back then and doom used the soundblasters built-in midi support for its soundtrack if it was selected as the audio device. To be more specific, it just sent midi commands to whatever device was selected. In windows, that would be handled by the os and then sent to the soundblaster. Hence why to you, this will sound like the instruments used in the doom soundtrack when in reality it's just the patch bank windows uses to interface with soundblasters midi mode.
