I like how reassuring Allen is to Joan. He can tell she's nervous so he tries to give her confidence and comments on when she gives good clues :)

Mr. Allen was such a clever, courteous host. Yes, indeed he was aware of peoples' confidence or lack of confidence. He was always impressed by Betty being so quick with the answers. He would say, how did you get that in 2 goes?

She was a notorious child abuser. " The more I saw of her, the more complex she seemed and the more perplexed I became. Hollywood is a parochial town where everyone knows everyone else's business. When word got around that I was doing a Life story on her, people got in touch with me to tell me Joan Crawford stories -- everybody from clapper boys to executives. Mainly they were stories that had to do with the children and her cruelty to them." Eve Arnold

If you recall though, in Mommie Dearest the daughter made a point that Joan loved her fans and was always very friendly and adoring to them. I didn’t read the book but that’s how she was depicted in the movie. There was a scene that showed how she always went all out at Christmas for her fans to show them her wonderful home and children...made it look like paradise. It’s true...we will never know the truth for sure.

@laramar9657
@laramar9657 3 жыл бұрын
@@keithhyttinen8275 It is not a matter of "affordability" but the fact that for the most part, people no longer have nor care to have a sense of elegance, manners and poise. If there is one country where you can buy great clothes for very little money is right here in the United States. A person can go to a thrift store or a consignment shop and buy very nice items to dress elegantly. However, clothes alone will not do. People today lack elegance, poise, distinction and manners. That is the real problem and let me point out that the lack of manners and elegance also has to do with society's celebration of what is vulgar and unintelligent, something that did not start in the 70s and 80s but rather in the mid-90s. This has been in steady decline to the atrocious levels we experience today.

The only good thing about getting old is you can still learn something new even if it is old, never thought choo choo was one word. Wow, Joan was terrible in the lightning round, I could actually feel the pressure myself. She did give the best clue for grouchy with grumpy, that was all I could come up with

I'm not sure if Waterford Crystal was a thing back then… But for "Crystal" I would have said "Waterford..." (at least if it were in modern times).

Feud got it wrong. They made it look like Joan wouldn't promote Baby Jane. That she was to depressed that Bette Davis got all the good reviews.

@@johnboys4697 Two iconic movie stars in the same movie but with very different roles. It must have been difficult to compete with Bette Davis when Joan's character was an invalid who spent most of the movie in bed, and yet she was outstanding in her portrayal of frustration and terror, making the audience fear for her. Joan should have been proud to promote the movie on her own merit.
