Back in the 50's-60's at our local drugstore, the cherry smash was the most popular drink; very tasty!

15:37 The female contestant had a "WTF, that was quick!" expression on her face.

Some words are not easy to get on the first clue. In fact many of them

You realize just how long ago this was when Allen will sometimes ask a female contestant if she is a "working girl". He'd never have asked a male contestant if he was a "working boy"! I realize he didn't mean anything bad at the time, but it grates on modern ears, nonetheless.

Am I the only one that sees when you're given first crack at a puzzle without solving it gives your opponent an easy way to solve. For example, Lena missed an opportunity to solve tattle by not working off Mitches answer of stool pigeon

Krista is right about Allen reminding the contestants NOT to use ANY form of the CLUE words.Allen is exactly like a parent constantly telling their child the same RULE over and over again with NO consequences. No LESSON learned.

20:58 Ludden was so perceptive...Lena Horne deciphers the password and utters it with pure regal majesty. Ludden was right there to pick up and comment on it. Little if anything got by him.

Every time Allen Ludden asks a woman: "Are you a working girl?" I think he is asking them if they are hookers! When did the term "Working Girl" take on the meaning of prostitute?

Although it's easy as an armchair quarterback, as it were, for "Road" I think first one of her clues, "Car" was cool but the next clue could have been "PATH…"

You can use homonyms. Also tomato is a fruit not vegetable. Anything containing seeds is considered a fruit tho for years I always thought it a vegetable. Pumpkins are also fruit believe it or not. Anyway, this is a good show to exercise the brain & U learn new words but why was Meander accepted for Wander, tho pronounced differently 'ander' is contained in both words. This is my opinion anyhow.

From a trade and culinary perspective, tomato is a vegetable.

Can’t say convene for convention but allows prattle to say tattle?

Prattle and tattle are rhymes, not forms of the same word.

Why does Allen have to keep repeating himself. I'm sure all these people knew by NOW not to say any form of the word... and yet, they still did.

Well, there are some inconsistencies in this show. In another episode, Allen wouldn't accept a word because according to him the verb form was NOT roughly equivalent to the noun, while singular and plural would be considered equivalent. In this episode, however, convene (the verb) is suddenly considered to be equivalent to the noun (convention). Also, the argument that the one is contained in the other does not apply here because of the final letter in convene.
