Jose Ferrer, Rosemary Cooney's husband at that time, was one of the very few Puerto Rican movie stars of that time, along with Rita Moreno.

He was also an abusive husband who cheated on her many times. They were reconciled (and remarried) here, but divorced for the 2nd time a few years later.

dannybex he was an egomaniac, he had an education above the average of most people in entertainment industry and turn out kind of snobbish and he did make her looks little. But of course this is what closed friends say, Rosemary herself always said nice things about him.

10:44 -- Rosemary possibly missed a trick with 'squaw'. Because she was playing first, it was easy for the contestant to guess after two words 'indian' and 'woman' (or 'female'). So she should have started with a more nondescript word like 'arrows', letting Jose choose between 'indian' and 'woman', and hence giving herself a chance to get the better play and 8 points.

@hudsony777
@hudsony777 2 жыл бұрын
He does seem rude or maybe just self-absorbed, although he does seem to take the game seriously. Not sure why he would touch his face the way he does, he may just be tired. He seemed to do better on TV later in life. James Mason also had that distant, I-don't-want-to-be-here attitude. The worst was Woody Allen.

Different world, but it's very demeaning even though it's actually not intended that way. In a thousand years people watching this will think there were only insurance salesman, housewives and actors living in this country today.

@@stanbrown32 I only noticed a few years ago that they get the contestants with the most average backgrounds. No graphic designers, defense attorneys, medical researchers, mayors of small cities, fashion models, teachers of any kind, or chefs. The idea of having an interesting life is solely for the celebrities.
@stanbrown32
@stanbrown32 2 жыл бұрын
@@hudsony777 I don't think that was a deliberate policy--I have seen graduate students, teachers, and attorneys as contestants on Password, and several men in the military, both officers and enlisted men. But these contestants weren't chosen because of their job--and maybe they were chosen from the studio audience? To Tell the Truth was somewhat different, since the subjects were chosen for some interesting occupation or achievement (some mayors, some other people in government among them), and the imposters there tended to be men and women who worked in advertising or publishing or businesses that had contacts with advertising agencies--some models among them. (Occasionally they had to reach out more, to get imposters who were teenagers, for example, or from a different ethnic background.)
@hudsony777
@hudsony777 2 жыл бұрын
@@stanbrown32 Okay, I haven't watched that many of them. I still think insurance salesmen and other bland brand occupations tended to dominate. One woman told Mr. Ludden, when asked what she did in life, said she was just back from Paris from directing the opening of a new art gallery. I'm almost certain he cut her after she said that. Maybe it's me.

No, the times are the same. People just get offended too easily. Get over it. Sticks and stones used to break our bones but now people get hurt over the dumbest things. Get a life! Life was a lot more peaceful back then when we didn't let words bother us.

@Nana Berry Many people do not know that squaw is a derogatory word. The translation is certainly not taught in American schools. Maybe the PC police are now educating Americans about the actual meaning of the word, but many, many people have no knowledge of it. However, you @NanaBarry are so PC you think it's cool to call a stranger a "worthless twat" ~ which also means vagina. You are an utter hypocrite... and a nasty squash berry.
