She knew what she wanted & wasn’t afraid to act on it. Considering the era, that was hard for a lot of people to take. She was intelligent, humorous, confident, talented & gorgeous. That was a deadly combination. I’m certain some women felt threatened.

Jack Palance at 12:24 "What would happen if say, "What does your husband do for a living, and she said, 'I support him?'" I love how aware Palance was of this misogynistic line of questioning where Allen Ludden asks men what they do for a living and asks women if they have a family and what their husbands do.

It was not a misogynistic line of questioning. At that time most married women did not have an additional outside or at home job and many unmarried women of that time would soon quit any job after marriage. So really, it would have either bored the audience for Allen to ask a woman what do you do and most of the time hear her say she is married, or the audience would have soon wondered, "Why is Allen asking the women what they do?

They already knew the bio of the contestants. Why waste tine asking someone's job when you already know they are a housewife? The man's job helped to identify the class and education level of the housewife contestants. They ask 'Are you a working girl?' when they already know she has a job. People are so stupid jumping to conclusions based on modern hypersensitive political correctness than just thinking it through. You've got limited time, you don't waste it asking pointless questions about nonexistent jobs.

For "intoxicated," after dancing around with a few of the slang terms, I would've gone with "publicly," or "driving;" as for "spy," why didn't anyone use "surveil," or "peep?" Still, some very excellent word-play in this one. I've said for a long time: a celebrity might be able to play a smart person on TV, but it takes seeing that celebrity without a script to truly gauge intelligence.

Jack Palance was horrible at this game. Why did the producer(s) not interview him first before allowing him on the stage. My 12-year-old granddaughter knows more words than him. He starred at the audience and starred at the desk instead giving a clue. Many actors and actresses are like him: without a Cue Card telling them what to say, they are clue-less. The last woman contestant on this episode only made $50 in the Lightning Round because Actor-man was clueless. Sad. Clue for "Noose" shoulda-coulda been: "Hangman's" or Swing, Tree, or Tighten. For the word "Intoxicated" someone should have said: "Legal", "Limit", "Test", "Arrest", "Vomiting", "Obnoxious". "Loud", "Rude", "Violent". {[ As for L.B.'s looks and appeal, I have never understood what people saw / see in her. Carol Lynley, Barbara Bain, Eva Gabor, Elaine DeVry, Dorothy Greene, Paula Raymond, Marion Moses Bell, Diana Millay, Capucine, Lee Meriwether, Maureen O'Hara, Karen Steele, Constance Towers, Dee Hartford, Donna Reed, Carroll Baker, Angie Dickinson, and the "Armed Forces Radio Vietnam lady" Chris Noel, Cristina Raines, YES, but not L.B..]}
