Intresting thing about the proto gligar is that skorupi also shares common acenstory with sizzlipede said by this entry in sword and shield "After burrowing into the sand, it waits patiently for prey to come near. This Pokémon and Sizzlipede share common descent." So it would be intresting to see if this gligar also shared relation to sizzlipede too.

I want scyther and kabutops being somewhat connected like that too, like scyther being a kabutops gone through evolution, which then started living on land and then the water kabutops died because of a calamity while the land kabutops became a scyther and the past time could be a phase of it's evolution

I think people are not thinking about future forms properly. Don’t think of them as just “futuristic” aka adding electric and steel elements. Instead, think of how another million years of evolution could naturally evolve the Pokémon.

Completely agree. Imagine if Poochyena after years of domestication became a normal type. Or parasect becoming ghost bug, Noctowl becoming Flying/Psychic. Basically just another way of saying regional form or type change through mega evolution. Just make the design look “rougher” or “cleaner” for past/future forms

From what I've seen: Past form concepts tend to change one type to either Normal, Rock, Dark, or Fighting. While Future form concepts tend to go for Electric, Steel, Psychic, or Ghost. While these make sense, I do agree that it ends up being boring.

I kinda wanna see a fairy type ancient form. I don't really know how but I think you could connect it to irl lore of the fair folk, who were thought to be incredibly powerful but also very hard to communicate with due to the number of rules they have with interaction, and their power was directly tied to the natural places they resided. an ancient form of a pokémon that had to change its ways to cooperate with humans or losing their sacred sites and the fey-like majesty and typing they once had as they adapt to modern life and changing times away from their natural habitat... something something metaphor for urbanisation

Ok so hear me out. TTar was talking about how Neo forms are usually just electric or steel but I thought of a intresting idea I think. Neo Swablu that is Poison/Flying and when it evolves becomes either a Neo altaria or new evoloution that keeps the same type. Basically the concept is that human pollution has caused the swablu and altaria in the future to absorb the toxic fumes emmited from citys and factorys and caused swablu and altaria to basically be acid rain clouds that rain poison on foes to attack. Also their personallity would be WAY more aggressive and rude to both people and pokemon. I think this works as a pretty good Neo form but tell me what you guys think.

Tyranitartube. Not all ghosts are dead things. Demons and other spirits exist too. Anything like that in Pokemon would be a "ghost" type. A dead thing in Pokemon would be like Yamask. Then another type of ghost type that was never dead to begin with would be things like Dusknoir and Giratina.

1:55 That's not quite what it says. Pokemon that die don't become Ghost types, but if they somehow return to life then they can become Ghost type (and can even die again). It's a minor distinction yet I think also an important one. Plus there are plenty of pokemon that are Ghost type but have no death in their origin (i.e. a Dartrix doesn't die when it evolves to Decidueye, it simply gains Ghost type powers and aspects). The most consistent thing though is that Ghost type pokemon are living things in their own right, they eat, breed and die. Basically a pokemon's typing seems dependent on the kinds of energy in it than anything else. Hence why so many pokemon can use moves or abilities that change a pokemon's typing without changing their physical form.

Not sure if I mentioned this before or not, but ttar should play randomized insurgence. It looks a lot more polished and all the items and mons are randomized. It’s wild. Not as hard as normal insurgence because you could get lucky and have a cult leader have a lot of baby Pokémon. It’s freaking hilarious. And also Reborn is now completed and it feels much more fleshed out. Currently facing Radomas, the psychic leader in that game. Ttar should try that again at some point. Whenever he wants though. No rush. Also also Reborn now has multiple save files. Not just three, but I’m pretty sure as many as you want. You can do whatever you want with all sorts of teams. Ame and her team really went all out.

There is littéral time warping in this game, but there are no new fossil like pokemon. This would have been the perfect time to give fossils special forms, like the original forms who warped from the past to the present or futuristic fossils who were rebuild by scientist. Kabutops would have been so cool with a form. But alas, there's not a single fossil in the game...

Well maybe, in Scarlet, the fossils could be full fledged normal pokemon that time warped. While in Violet, they'd be different enhanced versions of them akin to Genesect. Meaning that all around, there would be no need for fossils themselves, they would just be "normal" pokemon.

Completely agree. I think many people just go to concept of future tech while missing out on the species that will adapt to living around it. If tech causes more electric typing, than natural adaption should counter with certain Pokemon gaining ground typings. Or even something like more poison type mons having the corrosion ability from living in a steel like environments.

With Alolan grimer they actually say they are going extinct from lack of pollution and are being used by humans to help stay eco-friendly in a symbiotic relationship, a stark contrast of original grimer. Maybe if the swablu become more attuned to city living and are used similar to the grimer to prevent pollution, but it's your idea you flesh it out

1:23 With figuring out Ghost-types I think we need to turn a recent line of Lance's from Pokémon Masters. He calls Gyarados a dragon and directly says that not all dragons are Dragon-type. A Pokémon's type is simply indicative of the powers it has, not what it actually is. Some Ghost-types are the actual ghosts of dead Pokémon, whereas others are living Pokémon that simply have ghostly powers. Many are even the ghosts of dead people! (Yamask, Gengar, and Phantump being a few confirmed examples.)

I'm sorry to correct you- muscle doesn't dystrophy after disuse, it ATrophys. Essentially it gets smaller but doesn't go away, and will rebuild after 1-3 days of reuse. Applying that to pkmn, it could gain an added boost after Evo from a weak base Pokémon.

The "Issue" i see with a lot of future designs, is that most people are only thinking of how to transform a pkmn in to a cybermon. Thats why we get so many electric types. But you should think about them, like the past forms. Instead of what did they evolve from, in to what will the entire line evolve in to.

A good way they could do future forms is some are just the generic steel or electric types in our future, but some are from alternate futures, so some that are radioactive/toxic in a sort of nuclear fallout future, or some that are extinct/dead in an apocalyptic future, maybe even aquatic/amphibious in a flooded world future. This would make it easier to create more variety for future forms.

Some ghost types were once human (ei: Yamask), so not all ghost types were dead pokemon. I kinda think ghost Pokémon type should be renamed to “spirit or yokai” type so could encompass more seamlessly other ghost type Pokémon, like Bannet was just a doll per the Pokédex entries not a doll Pokémon. I believe in Japanese mythology when you use an object for a long time it kinda takes a life of it’s own of sorts. I’m not an expert, so feel to correct me, but it’s kinda the origin of sorts to a lot of objectmons. Not all of them of course. I’m honestly surprised we haven’t gotten that umbrella Yokai as a Pokémon. You should totally make a video where you read those messed up pokedex entries. They always give me a laugh with how insane they are.

One thing I think they could do for Future forms (if they are true) is something like speculative evolution, like the book After Man where many of the animals today evolved into something different like how rodents in that book replaced many of the carnivorans (cats, Dog's, bears, etc.) There's also a video by True Green 7 that is basically that.

I want to see stuff like a Mimikyu that people have accepted for what it is, so it no longer wears the cloak and no longer kills you for looking at its real body. From what I know, all ghost types are based on actual deaths. For example, Chandelure is based on a case of a duke dying by being crushed by a falling chandelier. Not sure if that's actually true, but it's the main thing I've been hearing

To answer your question T-Tube: Did Dartrix die to become Decidueye? To put it bluntly: No. Decidueye simply has great control over its ghostly abilities. It's not literally dead. There are Ghost types that are ghosts and then there are Ghost types that have ghost powers but aren't ghosts. Know the difference and know it well.

Suddenly my theory for what this game's gimmick may be is making more sense, as mine was along these same lines, Ancient forms are like what I said, just a prior incarnation of the pokemon, while Future Forms are clearly new incarnations yet to be, just as I inferred previously. I feel people are still only scratching the surface of what can be done with neo forms, future pokemon doesn't have to be futuristic. You see, evolution is very mysterious. Ghost types can finally find peace and lose their ghost typing, or pass on to become fairies. Certain pokemon with threats around them can adapt and turn that threat around. Maybe something like durants who lived in fear of heatmors so they lived near lakes and gained the water type. In fact, regional forms can be used as concepts for future forms, like how vulpix turned into ice because of the cold and what not.

This could easily work for Eevee, like it’s future from would be “Steeleon” and the past form would be “Ghosteon”. Not those names but the typings. The leaks say it’s “confirmed” not to have new ones, but I’d rather hear from Game Freak themselves on saying Sylveon is the final one for now. Everyone loves Eevee, it has the most coolest and cutest designs, if they wanna capitalize on the hype it’d be stupid not to introduce new forms. If not at launch then in the dlc. It’s been since Gen 6 😭 I need a new Eevee form in my veins!

A good candidate for a neo-Pokémon could be Lapras. Because ever since Gen 1, it's been said that they're very emotionally and intellectually smart, but that they've also been on the brink of extinction. Though starting in Gen 7, it said that Lapras had been cherished to the point of overabundance and now the fish population is declining because of it. And in Gen 8, it says that it surrounds itself in a ring of ice particles and it'll use them to smash icebergs if they impede their "graceful" swimming. So what if they become these violent, arrogant monsters that know that all humans love them and they smash anything that impedes their gracefulness and take up a lot of space and become an Ice-Dark type? I don't think it'd be hard to make them look evil, either. Just sharpen some of its features and maybe give it a sorta Milotic-look. Doubt Game Freak would do this after giving it a Gigantamax form, but it's still a cool idea nonetheless in my opinion.

If you look at fearow's design it is obviously inspired by long-necked, long-beaked wading birds such as storks and herons, but those have long legs, while fearow's legs are short, and fearow's pokedex entries often mention its impressive wings and how it flies so well. Maybe an ancient fearow would be a water/flying type with long legs that wades on swamps and beaches, and the future form would be pure flying with it having four wings (two arms and two legs) and rarely going on the ground, like the great blue windrunner from The Future Is Wild, which evolved from modern day cranes, who are wading birds with long legs, necks, and beaks.

the thing i'd like to see with a proto magnemite is some sort of proto roggenrola too. some sort of round circular rock ancestor. also what i'd like to see in future forms is people stop turning things into electric or steel. turn them psychic, an elevated mind. years of advancement and knowledge made them lose muscles because they don't rely on them anymore but unlocked some sort of deeper understanding with the universe and each other. something interesting to go hand in hand with the brawny fighting type cavemen that need to fight to survive.

I want this common ancestor thing to be real sooo much. It would be an interesting new way to implement fossil Pokémon. Or some new version of it. It would essentially be a way to make fusion Pokémon actually make sense. You take to a scientist two specific Pokémon and he uses some “DNA splicer” or reverter from samples of them and you get this new Pokémon. Maybe for some Ancestor Pokémon it takes more than two.

It would be cool if some future forms were ghost types since ghost types can be dead Pokémon. I am picturing a magnemite with no electricity left so in the future it becomes a haunted inanimate object like a steel/ghost type

If I had to come up with a past form, what about like the original Cubone, or what Cubone was before the original Cubone. Cubone unmasked, so to say, to finally wrap up this discussion on if Cubone is an orphaned Kangashkhan-baby or not. Even if the line already has a regional form, or rather, maybe exactly because only Marowak has a regional form, so one for Cubone with it evolving into something completely different would be interesting.

Then a future spiritomb formed from not 108 souls but thousands is born from all those who were taken away. It could be a pseudo legendary or even the first non legendary to gain legendary pokemon status

Only thing I don’t really vibe with for the future Pokémon is that everyone pretty much makes them electric typing I think because of maridon. If past/future forms are a thing I hope that there’s a little more thought than that. Like how futuristic zoruark is dark because past was vengeful. That’s smart. (I know that’s not what zoruark was initially supposed to be)

What if...the gimmik is like a primmal and future forms of Pokemon and then they gain "a third typing" but it's really an ancient type that the pokemon used to have , and their body changes depending on it. And the future, being regional fakes cause humans are the one who causes their change.

Hopefully the future forms are more than just turning them into technology. Like maybe turn an ape like mon into human like mon to show how it’s advanced. Dunsparce getting a split evolution we’re ones evolved into a ground type and the other a flying type would be good.
