i think a more accurate example would be Mimicry, for example Hover Flies have evolved to look near identical to wasps despite not having stingers in order to trick predators into thinking its dangerous (and vice versa for other animals). Convergent evolution is closer to something like most of the Unova dex, where the animal evolves to fill the niche but don't always look similar. (iirc I think the Kiwi is an example of this)

Except for there hasn't been any leaks or any real information. I love how 98% of this God awful fanbase doesn't understand what leak even means. Everyone keeps saying everything has been facts since the game was announced. And the last 5 months brain dead imbeciles have been accepting any and every fake fan art, and troll account(khu) as 1000% direct sources to Gamefreak. But its funny how you use common sense, use Google search, use gamefreak direct source, and the good old internet detectives and you see there is 3x as many facts disproving these troll accounts(Khu) then there is proving them factual. The only excuse people have when it comes to saying Khu is real and a direct source to gamefreak, is them saying "Because I said so"...and TTar is doing the exact same thing. People ignore and deny that they are fanboying and being a cult over a troll account that has claimed to have obtained scarlet/Violet before it was ANNOUNCED. They've had the games 100% data mined and leaked online ever since February. And claim they are a president/ceo/sitting chair member of Gamefreak. But yet also are the Chinese riddler(when that's 1000% false)...or the simple fact its been 11 years, 3 generations, and 4 games and the account hasn't leaked anything or got anything right all those previous times...lastely there has been articles nonstop the last 2 weeks and everyone publishes something different. At this point we have "13 leakers" across 5 different social media platforms, and Khu is down the grapevine getting information well after several other people. Again proving he's not a direct source to gamefreak that data mined the games 5 months ago

Not just that, the past/future is important. Irl, we see this occur. We have a reptile in the fossil record that's literally a Porpoise, yet it went extinct, looked the same lived the same as today's Porpoises, who are Mammals and completely unrelated to the Reptilian Porpoise teaser from the Cambrian. RFs are like that, they don't just look like em, they're unmistakably them, except it isn't. Maybe RF Amoonguss is stage 1, it's grass steel type, and evolves. Alternatively, the future path are mons probably created, made to look like an existing one, but not that one at all

@@oleedee5416 Thanks, I didn't even mention how sometimes animals go extinct and just re-evolve themselves. There was a bird that did that, twice. Just ceased to exist, and then re-evolved. It's the same bird, but it re-evolved out of a still existing lineage. Like if humans went extinct, then re-evolved from chimps, but like twice, over just the span of a few thousand years. (Scientists know this via dna testing on the birds, visually and physically they're identical, but genetically they have slight differences to the extinct group before them, and we only know cuz the second time was within the last 100 years, it's this Asian bird, some kind of warbler or something)

For reference, this occurance is called "Convergent Evolution" irl, it's when two different and usually temporally seperated evolution paths reach the same or very similar conclusions, like dogs and cats being quadrapedal is convergent evolution to a minor degree, although it usually refers to deeper similarity than just walking on 4 legs, usually the two species resemble eachother very strikingly. Regional Forms would actually be a form of Convergent Evolution due to habitat differences, however these Regional Fakes are more likely the temporal kind since Khu specified em as "Regional Fakes" instead of Forms. I'm so hyped for these!!!!

I think I've figured out how the RFakes work, at least the ones Khu's Tweeted the polls for. *Sudowoodo's* RFake is an actual Plant Pokemon that noticed how People continuously Watered Sudowoodo to get it to move, so it wanted the same treatment and disguised itself so it'd get more hydration... *Teddiursa's* RFake is likely an adaptation of Bee Pokémon that stands around the colony to draw their Hives' predators like Teddiursa and Ursaring to them, before ambushing them with their hivemates in order to proactively get rid of threats! If that's the kind of trickery these RFakes are pulling, people in this new Region will really need to be careful...
