That's not a good idea. It would make some pokemon TOTALLY unavailable in the other version. Exclusive pokemon are a thing yes but you can trade them.

@@arnauzer I mean I think it’s good, the Pokemon should be able to traded to the other version of the game but the ancient/future version of Pokemon should be only found however in their respective games. Pokemon has always consisted of two games for each gen but there was never much different between them. Now people would have a legitimate reason to maybe pick up the other game

@@farhan70 There's very few people that'll actually buy both games. Nobody wants to pay 50 to get 5 pokemon and basically the same game you already have, people won't be happy. They have NEVER done that in recent years, I don't think they'll start doing that now. Also, in the late game you could unlock the other "mega stone" from the other game, like you could get the blue orb in Omega Ruby and vice versa.

Imagine if Miraidon and Koraidon were like the children of Dialga and he sent one to protect the past and the other to protect the future, maybe a third to watch other the present and then Dialga watches over all time. Or maybe the third legendary could represent the end of time kinda like an Anti-Dialga, that'd be insane

Some leaks did mention that the gimmick would be a “third typing” in a way. Maybe this is directly connected? A Pokémon can switch between its past or future form mid battle essentially giving it access to a third typing

A cool battle mechanic would be to introduce an accessory (like the Mega Evolution bracelet) that can transform your pokemon into it's "Proto" variant or "Neo" variant. This would change the pokemon's typing as well as switch around it's current base stat total. The difference this mechanic would have from Mega Evolution would be that you could change all 6 pokemon on your team to it's "Proto" or "Neo" variants (only once per battle, and only when that pokemon is currently participating in the battle). This would, however, require that Gamefreak make a "Proto" and/or "Neo" variant for every pokemon in the national dex to truly capitalize on the idea that all 6 pokemon on your team could transform into their past/future variant.

Im kinda hoping that we’ll get regional variants separate to proto/neo variations. Would be hella sick to see the proto/neo as version exclusives instead of regional variants (only proto in Scarlet and only neo in Violet). I mean, imagine getting Hisuian Zorua in scarlet and porygon in Violet.

I feel like it won't be as fleshed out as Tytube thinks. If there's a past/future form variance, I feel like it'll end up being like a ultra worm hole type safari zone thing mixed into the story like in USUM. Idk I like the idea tho. If this is what they go with, I hope it's at least worked in well with the story plot and is cohesive with other game's history.

Past/future forma as a gimmick would be pretty epic. Similar to mega forms it would take specific pokemon and give them new forms with possible new typings and/or stat changes. It would also be pretty cool because we could get different forms depending on the edition you buy. It would also make sense for sales

I think it would be cool if most of the fossil Pokémon got a regional variant, or proto form. Because they were revived in current games, they have the rock type. Since we could have a link to the past, we could see what those Pokémon look like during their time.

Honestly so far both Scarlet/Voilet and Sun/moon are very similar . 1. Both are tropical looking region. 2. Both has Crystal Symbols for their Gimmick. 3. Sun /Moon legenderies were used to Travel Space portals and Scarlet/voilet legenderies are speculated to travel Time. 4. Fuecoco 's Design was Teased trough Elio's Shoes in Ultra sun / ultra moon. 5. Looks like Both professors goning to play a huge role in the main story of the games , just Like Prof. kukui played in Sun/moon. 6. Plus these two gens are some how include schools . Ash gone to school in Sun and moon and even now in Journeys the new main character Koharu goes to school. I think Pokemon is planning something Big for gen 9 . I mean in anime ash is literally battling in World Championship and All his old friends , pokemon and rivals are returning. he has catch some Pokemon Fans wanted him to catch. In pokemon Legends Of arceus they made ingo and BDSP Protagonist Travel in past . like they made Frontier Brain Annabel travel through Ultra space.

Something I think worth bringing up is we had Time Distortions in PLA. Could have been a way for them to test bringing pokemon from a different era. Maybe thats how we find these new forms. Instead of regionals, we have past/future and they show up in these time distortions. Would work really well as world events in an open world game!

I was thinking Trubbish would have a past variant if they made one. They wouldn't have had trash bags back then so Trubbish would more likely be a compost pile then, being like Ground/Grass type. I think it would also be cool if they made the "correct" fossil pokemon. Like You can catch Anoriths and Omanytes that aren't rock type, and there might be a boss fight in scarlet against Mega Aerodactyl (since there are pokedex entries saying Mega Aerodactyl is how it was supposed to look like in the past, and would explain Riddler's coyness about Megas coming back.) Then to balance it out the future game has the correct versions of all the galar fossils and the boss fight is against Porygon-Omega. Probably not gonna happen but would love for them to do that conceptually.

Sounds kinda cool. Like ancestral and descendant species of the ones we already know. So for a real-world example, the ancestral version of a dog would be a wolf. And the descendant would be what dogs would evolve to become thousands of years in the future.

I think it'd be REALLY cool if we got to see the fossil pokémon how they were in the past, because they're canonically different from how they were pre-revival. perhaps the rock typing replaces their original secondary typing? crossing fingers Amaura and Aurorus get some spotlight lol another interesting thing that could be brought in, is the idea of an isolated community similar to the Pokémon Village in XY or some of the Crown Tundra in SWSH (which has fossil pokémon running wild because of the environment) a location where people have never lived, so the Pokémon had no need to adapt to that and kept their original forms from the past. it'd be a wonderful way to tie in the Hisuian forms, and could also lead to an in-universe discovery of Hisui as a culture.

I think it's sort of easy to think that Porygon was created by Silph however once Team Rocket took over they used thier research in Pokémon experimentation to create a physical form of Porygon.

I feel like the battle gimmick of this game will be inspired by Legends. The crystal can let you either speed up time and attack two times in a row (ie agile style) or slow down time making it easier to hit your opponent with more force (ie strong style). That’s the only way I can think of for now that implements a time function into the battles.

I was thinking about it a couple days ago, but what if certain pokemon who held the stone had 3 types? In the teaser we see the big design in the town with the 18 types around it, with a colorful stone in the middle. 18 types, 6 point crystal, 3 types confirmed?? lol. Also, years ago I think we hypothesized that if a pokemon had every type, it would only be weak to rock (iirc). Maybe that could be part of the gimmick too. What if a pokemon had an ability that changed it's type every (nth) turn, keeping its primary typing and changing its secondary or adding a tertiary one? Imagine TTar's right, not regional but temporal variants would be super dope! Talking about the past and evolution, there could be a way to have convergent evolution, where a venonat for example could evolve into a butterfree, or a metapod to a venomoth (they always looked so similar anyway)?

It'd be cool if the gimmick is that you could switch between the normal and past/future forms during the battle, multiple times. Every turn you could choose to switch forms, which changes your typing and stats to give a potential advantage

Maybe since both professors are focused on the past and future maybe there are events ( respectively ) that they want to change, they might have even had to flee their original times to our time because of it's peace or the Legendries. This is all if they are "the bad guys" though.

Might be cool to see the original forms of fossil pokemon like Aerodactyl and Tyrantrum. The fossil pokemon we know as of now are basically the Jurassic Park versions of the originals, which most likely didn't have the rock typing.
