Dear Ashish Thank you for your great teachin. One of your examples was The actor whom we have approached ...., it seems the way you reduced it is not correct because you missed * we*, the correct answer seems to be, the actor approached by us ..... or we should leave it as it is. Please let me know if I am wrong. Regards

1. I went over to the guy, covered in bandages 2. Covered in bandages, I went over to the guy. The first one(Past participle phrase) modifies the guy, and the second one modifies the subject "I". I am getting confused that someone in a video said that the first one(PPP) modifies the subject "I".
@EnglishWithAshish
@EnglishWithAshish 3 жыл бұрын
No, the first one is still modifying the subject I. If it was modifying the noun GUY, the comma wouldn't be there.

@@EnglishWithAshish Thanks a lot. I got your point that it is an essential case, and for non-essential cases, I should use a comma like Audi A7, given in your video.
@mohammadjaleel7295
@mohammadjaleel7295 3 жыл бұрын
Me. Ashish, Hi: To determine if the phrase is essential or non-essential wholly depends on the writer. The boy, who is at the corner, is my friend. Here, it may be non-essential. If you want to be specific about the boy, we can make it essential by skipping the comma. Hence, the rule has slackness in it.
@EnglishWithAshish
@EnglishWithAshish 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, Jallel! Well said. It depends on what the writer means.

Having been beaten...here subject is given both the sentence this is called dangling...I learned from you, sir...if the doer of the subject is mentioned then why is the sentence is incorrect.
