Thank god for this channel. Nothing like the nonna's to teach us how to do pasta. Also what's great is that Pasta Grannies makes pasta's I've never heard from before. By the looks of it, Pitzudos would be the death of me. So delicious.

I come from an Italian family (Calabrese) but until I started watching this channel, I had no idea that Italians used potatoes in so many different ways! I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania so thanks to our Slavic neighbors, we all love potatoes. Grazie tanto e buona Pasqua!

hi Elisa, potatoes don't get a starring role in Italy, but they turn up in some delicious dishes - I love potato ravioli styles - tortelli and culurgiones! best wishes, Vicky

Pierina is rather terrifyingly strong, and this looks absoloutely delicious (aside from the lard, which is admittedly *guaranteed* to make things more delicious if one eats corpses in the first place). I like that she showed us her painting and explained it, too, it's good to see folk being creative and not feeling guilty about not feeding the results into the capitalist machine.

@@pastagrannies No farming for me these days I'm afraid. Plus though tasty, sheep were my least favourite animals on the farm. We didn't get on. Goats on the other hand I love, I think of them as ungulates with Jack Russell terrier personalities. Thankfully these days as well as lamb I can source hoggets [sheep over a year old] & mutton, both have so much more flavour. A friend of mine who also likes to cook occasionally goes in on a whole carcass. We then split it & I taught myself to butcher large animals years ago when I was a forester. Keeps the freezer full & a much cheaper way to buy meat, plus I know where it came from as a local farmer sells it to us.

Growing up in an Italian home as a first generation in the US, I can say that since I have lost both my parents, your videos give me a feeling of joy everytime I watch one. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the videos you produce. I know this suggestion comes a little late as Easter was just a few days ago, but I had a brilliant idea. This year, I was a little depressed for Easter as the holidays always make me think of my parents. I had a craving for something my mother made every year at Easter time. If possible, could you do a video on Pitta Chiena. It is a Calabrian Easter dish that you may also know by the name Pizza Rustica. As a little bonus, and if you were able to pull this off I would tip my hat to you, maybe include Easter Breads and cookies. One I always enjoyed growing up was called Pitta Pi. It is a half moon shaped little pocket that has a filling made with cooked down grapes I believe. I have searched online for it, and Pitta Pi may be what it was called in Maierato. The closest thing I found was Pitta 'Mpigliata, but it looks nothing like what I remember. Anyways, those were my suggestions. May God bless you and I pray you continue to post the video of these Italian gems. My Nonna would love this.

Hello Giacinto, thank your for your appreciation - and your suggestions. Funnily enough you are the second person this week to ask for Pizza Rustica as a video, and it's now on my list. It will be for next Easter. I'll investigate the cookies too. with best wishes, Vicky

Imagine you’re a woman, because you’re told women cook and clean the house while men just work, but as a woman it’s your job to cook for everyone and have to serve men. So wrong. Every thing should be fifty fifty. Women do more work than men. And nothing we do is even that hard.
