"Pastel Innovations" Demonstration - Dawn Emerson with PanPastel

Dawn Emerson demonstrating PanPastel Colors for mixed media techniques. The colors used in the video are from Dawn’s new 40 color PanPastel set “Dawn Emerson Collection”.

The demonstration was filmed on Nov. 12th, 2019 at Jerry's Artist Outlet (NJ).
Materials used:
- PanPastel Colors Set “Dawn Emerson Collection” (40 Colors in 2 Palette Trays)
- Sofft Tools (Dawn uses Sofft Angle Slice Flat sponges in the video)
- Any printmaking paper (Dawn uses Strathmore 300 Series Printmaking Paper in the video)
- Eraser (any)
- Paper towel (Kitchen)
- Sumi-E Ink & brush
- Water miscible oil paint & brayer
- Pastel Sticks
- Charcoal
- Lithographic / Wax Crayon
- Template/stencils
- Other tools including comb, razor etc

Beautiful work Dawn ! Thank you for sharing your techniques with us . You mentioned using a white that you said was highly charged with pigment and pumice . What exactly is that product ? I have been looking for a white to use to cover on smooth paper .

I believe the brushes are paddle brushes by Liquitex. You can get them at Blicks, Jerry’s, most fine art stores.

I am super surprised that the pastel went on to that smooth surface that was crazy. Im also wondering how well or long it will stick / does it need a fixative. I prefer not to add fixative to my work so id be glad to hear more about that as well.
