I just looked up the color charts on Dakota pastels. I can see why you say they are an investment!! However they look extremely useful and would be worthwhile in the long run. Thank you for sharing!

Hello, thanx for your video,s. I want to know what paper can I use for making human portraits? I only draw animals with pastelpencils from FC on pastelmat...I tried to make a face but I could not blend so smoothly. Can you give me some advise please? Thanx already. Greetings from Julia, Holland

Thank you for the resource from DAKOTA about the paint charts, did you add the glassine cover yourself or does it come from the vendor, I didn’t see the protective covering on dakotas website.... thanks!

nice video, it helps us understand your process, I wish it could help us who are new to pastel to keep track of these buggers as they are expensive and I really do not want to buy colors I may not use for years! I have made color swatch pages with my purchases so far and I see it getting out of hand quickly! SO any advice for those of us with years of experience in other mediums? Thanks for the videos and you have a new sub!

Hi Marla, I've just purchased 120 half stick from Sennelier to add to my 50 full sticks. In the half stick box, I was given a list of what colours / numbers I have but they aren't in the same order as in the box. Other than guestimating with the swatches that aren't true, how do you establish which colour is which for reordering ? Thanks

April, I just added 120 to my original 80 box of Senn. I made a color chart ( sprayed fixative and numbered my chart 1-120, then did same thing for the original sticks from my 80 set as well as individual replacements ). I can then go to Blicks with my chart and order form and try the full stick samples for comparison. This system only works if you can go in person to buy new sticks. What system did you come up with.
