Hey Frenzzz!
This was grossly delayed, and don’t know how relevant this topic is BUT I thought to go forward with the upload anyway. It was interesting to apply both palettes and identify the differences (and similarities)! Overall, the BH palette I think it a great alternative, but if you want the shades to appear lighter then add some of the matte white for adjustment. I would just combine both palettes, but I do see myself using the ND palette more. Even though the shades are lighter, for some reason that makes it more wearable? Whereas the shades from LLA are more vibrant, and I have to strategize when creating looks. Let me know what you think!

I agree about Lost in Los Angeles not being a "true" pastel palette but I think it functions as exactly that for darker complexions. It looks brighter in the palette but wears as pastel on deeper skin as oppose to looking like "true" pastels in the palette but giving us crayola-in-a-sandstorm on the eyes. So I think it definitely deserves pastel status but with the note that it won't function as a traditional one for those of a medium skin tone and lighter 💕

I totally agree! I find Natasha went almost too literal with her pastels and thus doesn’t function on tan to deep skin tones. The pastel colors are too light and ashy on us ~ love the “Crayola in a sandstorm” truer words , truer words!!👌🤣 They look kind of weird on me as a result. So, as absolutely beautiful and whimsical to gaze upon Natasha’s palette ~ I’m entranced! I find myself also conflictedly (I know I made that word up but it’s so convenient! 😉😂) frustrated looking at it too. Lolol! As I know I’m not getting and will not get what I want out of of her palette as they’re just too literal and I need my pastels to lean more mid-tone. Humf!

I have had the BH Cosmetics palette for a good minute and I absolutely love it. It is very pigmented and shows up well on deeper skin tones well. I'm wearing some of the eyeshadow colors today and the look I created is stunning! It is a gem to me! 💕💕

The BH palette is unequivocally better in every way. The swatches, the looks, the shimmers, it's not even a comparison. The ND palette looks ashy here (referring to opacity, not tone) IDK why youtubers keep tripping over themselves trying to rationalize the mediocrity of this palette just bc it's ND. That said, TYSM for this comparison, I was searching for exactly this comparison on on a deeper skintone last night!

The description said this is delayed but I don't care. I love these types of videos and was so excited to see it! I own the BH and still have my eye on the ND palette. BH has a great formula, I particularly like the mattes, but the exact tones/undertones are not 100% it on me. I'm a very pale olive and I agree some of the BH shades come off more like brights than pastels on me. Not a big deal since there is a white in the palette so I can adjust myself.

for being a person with a little more pigment in my skin, Lost in Los Angeles was a fantastic palette that didn't go ashy on me. I freakin love BH Cosmetics so much and am so freakin bummed the declared bankruptcy and now sold Makeup Revolution. I hope to god they don't mess with their impressive and incredible formula but I don't have much hope. Makeup Revolution quality control is so woeful in comparison. sigh... @@raregem8886 i have almost every natasha denona palette but between the Lost in Los Angeles and the Creep Cute shroud palette.... i'm not really tempted by the ND pastel palette. @@alice_rabbit8345 Same here. I know a sheer wash of pastels is pitched to the mainstream consumer but I find it boring and what is the point of wearing shadows that barely show on anybody or look like kids chalk? I love the Lost in Los Angeles palette - it hits a sweet spot for me, in the pastel family but not washed out. Great for spring and summer when maybe I veer away a bit from the deeper tones and neutrals I enjoy. M

I’m sure you’ll LOVE the BH formula! I started with one, and then went completely overboard 🤣 It has the same staying power as Pat McGraths shadows on me, which is just crazy for the price point. If you would like a darker palette I would recommend trying the beautiful in Barcelona palette which is STUNNING (but on me it is very dark, but I’m pasty pale). Once you try BH I’m sure you’ll get addicted ✨
@donnareed73

@@sparklingsia7279 😂 well at least this will be a more affordable addiction because between ND and PM I was checking the want ads for a second job lol jk. I see a lot of BH at Marshals so maybe I’ll pick one up next time I’m there. I usually shy away from larger palettes because I get overwhelmed with all the colors that’s why I hadn’t picked up one before. I just tried the Wilderness palette from beauty bay and I must say they have a good formula too and they are very affordable even with shipping to the U S. Sorry not wilderness it’s called earthly they have 3 different sizes I bought the middle sized one 16 pans but I think I’m going to order the 9 pan palettes in the other shades.

I’m an ‘open’ bh addict… My advice is to steer clear of their ‘old’ formula which is typically found in larger palettes/round pans-& go ham on their ‘country/city’ series! The quality rivals any other high-end brand, & they’re super fun, not dupes, but ‘inspired-by’ imho, ND- Lost in Switzerland/Biba, etc etc. I suggest checking out Angelica Nyqvist’s bh playlist- as she’s a true bh die-hard. Then run, do not walk, to bh’s site to grab all that’s left, as they’re in bankruptcy/reorganization & sadly will be gone. Watch carefully for fakes (!) They’re just super fun palettes to hv; the Blueberry, The Mimosa, & 2 of my very favs- Sweet Shoppe Pistachio & Bubble Gum… Go hv some fun- grab 10 for the price of 1 of Mother’s! 🌝🌻👍🏽🌸

Great timing Alicia! I was so tempted during the Sephora sale to get the pastel palette but I could not justify the price for such a seasonal palette. I think I’d only want to wear it in the spring. The sale ended yesterday and low and behold today at TJ maxx was the Lost in Los Angeles palette for $7.99! I think I’d like softer pastels so I will definitely be mixing with the matte white. I’m probably in the minority but I’m not crazy about Natasha’s cream to powder formula. It applies like a dream but always creases on me, at least in the Love palette. That is the only palette I have with them. Anyway, I won’t really have FOMO anymore. 😅

Your technique is everything. I always need to remind myself that that I don’t hv your gorgeous eye-ball real estate or skin-tone, but I still think I can make it work for me. Great video. Just a side-bar, but I wonder what you think about upcoming trends & return to natural lashes-ESP, in playful (pastel/Euphoria looks), using instead very pigmented colored mascara & such? I already had the BH palette before the ND Pastel palette came out. I got it on sale for like $9. I didn't get the ND palette but recently bought the Nomad Paradise palette which has pastel and midtone vibes.

Menagerie Cosmetics has the Pastel Pup pallet back in stock!! Without any thought, I clicked Buy Now faster then ever when I got the email notification today. It’s one I’d been kicking myself for not getting last year. Buuut. I just recently purchased Nomads Paradise & Tokyo pallets, which are pastels lol. And I rarely wear makeup. But dang it I want them all. Give me all the pastels 🥳

Those pastels, doesn't matter which, must be so much fun to wear, especially as a younger person...while I LOVE colour, I wouldn't be so brave to wear these brightly coloured shadows as an older person. I'm sure there are some brave souls out there, but for me... hmmm...not certain...🤫 Great vid nonetheless, Alicia. (And I LOVE your earrings too!)

The case of ND pastel palette is exactly the same as the colours it represents. It is a truer pastel but very light and even a bit chalky on me and I’m a cool mid toned. I bought it because it is something I don’t have. It has those blend out shades that I don’t often have to go with deeper shades. It’s also easy to do a quick colourful look for day.

I don't have the Lost in LA palette, but it has a matte white which you can probably use to make the matte shades lighter with if you dip your brush back and forth?

Anyone know a dupe for the matte/satin cornflower blue, I think it’s called Bubbles? I can dupe/comp the rest of the palette but I can’t justify the price for one shadow but the swatches I’ve seen of it is so pretty.

I could be wrong, but I think that the white shade in the BH palette is to be used as a base and then you put the other shades over it to create that pastel look??? I have the BH palette and Pastel, and just haven't used either in a minute because I also splurged during the Sephora sale, and am trying out new palettes from other brands. Once again, OUTSTANDING content. Thank you so much for taking the time to do all of this work for us. Very much appreciated. 🙏💞

Thank you, friend! I think you are correct! I understand the white shade to adjust the brightness, and add highlight to areas. I plan on combining both palettes, as I feel the lighter pastels will be great blend out shades for the BH shadows.

I would love the ND palette, but I did just luck into the BH palette (@TJ Maxx!!) and I had that thought about using the white matte shadow to lighten the neon-y pigments back to more of a true pastel. I'm glad to get your co-sign! Thanks for this review. It was incredibly helpful!! ❤️❤️❤️

Oh no not pastels😄. Nice comparison. Color wise, i would go for the BH because I have a darker skintone, and I know their new formula is gorgeous, but they all look too pastel-ish for me. I have hooded eyes and really sunken under eyes because of age. I aint going to make it look worse with colors like this. But I enjoyed watching the looks

There is no such thing as a true pastel because the way that a color appears on your depending on skin tone. For someone with a deep skin tone the BH cosmetics palette is a pastel for someone of a lighter skin tone it's not because it's brighter. Natasha could have changed the game and offered a pastel palette for light/medium and medium deep pastel palette. That's the only way for a brand to give various people the ability to wear pastels.

This is true, and I should’ve reframed my observations in emphasizing that point. ND did do the light/dark with the face palettes, but don’t know how feasible it would be to create two different palettes like Sydney Grace does. With so many different finishes in one, it probably would’ve been expensive to produce two different palettes (from a manufacturer Ing stand point, but I don’t know for sure 🤷🏽‍♀️). All that to say, it’s great that we have options from different brands, that will allow us to explore several color stories that are appropriate for our skin tones.

I prefer good packaging and quality in one just like ND. The ND is a true pastel, the other BH is just too bright.
