Let us pray for ourselves, that we may not lose the word “concern” out of our Christian vocabulary. Let us pray for our nation. Let us pray for those who have never known Jesus Christ and redeeming love, for moral forces everywhere, for our national leaders. Let prayer be our passion. Let prayer be our practice. (Three guesses as to who said this, and the first two don't count)

So was it right for him to fight for traitors (CSA) for state rights (keeping slaves) as he understood God?

The CSA were not traitors they were excercising their right of Seccestion, as intended by the founding fathers. They weren't fighting for the States right to keep slaves, the Confederate constitution banned the slave trade and in 1864 President Jefferson Davis had a proposal to abolish slavery all together. They were fighting for the States right to govern themselves since it was no longer in their best interest to stay in the Union. The North started the war by invading them and they defended their land.

@@Lray4x4 Ok so it was the desire to govern themselves.. could you please educate me by giving me the 5 most relevant issues surrounding their political decent ? If not slavery, tell me the issues Which existed in 1860 that do not exist today other than the issue of slavery.... I will wait 🤔

@@mrright2288 High tarrifs, taxation without representation, the South was the minority in the Federal government due to having a lower population. They would always get out voted so it was no longer in their best interest to remain in the Union. Slavery was protected by law in 1861, Lincoln himself said multiple times that he had no intention of disturbing slavery, and the Proposed 14th amendment known as the Corwin amendment that would make slavery permanent in the States that it existed had just passed and was waiting to be ratified, so the South secceding for their right to own slaves would have made absolutely no sense. Even later in the war in 1864 President Davis send one of his cabinet members Duncan Kenner over to England and France with a proposal to abolish slavery in the Confederate States as long as they would recognize the Confederacy as a country and help them win their independence from the Union. The Confederacy was actually willing to give up slavery to win their independence, that wouldn't make much sense if the whole reason they left the Union was to keep slaves would it?
