We are not toddlers. This is convenient teaching full of assumptions of what God thinks. He struggled to debunk polygamy. He was inconsistent with who started polygamy. First he admitted Jacob started it and later said it was started by the acceptance of Kingship by Israel. He used his own logic to assume that God should have asked Noah/sons to married 7 wives if he wanted a fast track the increase in human race. His argument is whimsical and selective just like the supporters of polygamy. His argument was bereft of biblical justifications but full of Bible stories. He is very intelligent and eloquent with words and teachings so people are easily swayed to accept his opinions even when they are light weight

@MaxwellJuniorBaidoo-sq5zs I think Dr. Otabil was categorical about what he said. He also stated that although we have polygamous cultures before biblical days, and even afterward, this does not support the fact that God approves or approved of their mistakes. Marriage is not from a cultural perspective; it's God's perspective, thus objective.

It's funny how we ask questions about God's will but direct the question to a fallible man. Christians need to know God for themselves and hear from Him first hand so that what you know is not anchored on a man's exegesis but on God's revelation of His word. Today it is an easy question, tomorrow it may be a controversial question. Learn to hear from God yourself on every matter regarding His will.

From Genesis to Revelation, there is no where that God spoke against polygamy. It would however be accepted that the initial concept of instituting marriage was for one man one wife "from the beginning it was not so" Mt.19.8, buy as society began to expand coupled with the reduction of the men due to incessant wars, and other factors, the vacuum for polygamy was created. If God Himself who is the same yesterday, today and forever Heb. 13.8, didn't condemn the practice of polygamy, as shown in Exodus 21.10, and encouraged in 2 Sam.12.8, the practice of polygamy should therefore not be seen as sin.......

Great analytical message on polygamy by the elderly pastor. We are living in a world of misery. I use to think about the many women in the world compared to their less populated male counterparts, alarming ratio of 10 women to 1 man. Polygamy isn't biblical but how do we care and protect the surplus women in the world today? Is there a science that could stop humanity from giving birth to more female children but more males in order to equalize the ratio of men to women? Many of us supported pastor Mensah hypocritically, we're not being sincere. Polygamy is a sin but we're right in there with the surplus women around, we still admire the beautiful girls down the street and even in our offices. What's that called? Have you ever researched why men behave the way they do? Why did God wired men to be so sexually attracted to women they see appealed to them? It's a bit painful seeing our surplus women in the world die of loneliness, depression, and sometimes childlessness. Should the surplus women be individually deprived of their right of getting a soul mate since all men are taken? What will be the future consequences of having too many women compared to men in a society? Is it okay for the surplus women to be alone?
@augustinedonkor34508 ай бұрын
So the fact that though you have eaten and you're full, because there's a spare food and it can go bad the next day, you must of necessity eat that one too no matter the health implications? And who decieved you that all the Women walking in this world can't get a husband? Who told you so? What you've just written is the same excuse and lies being perpetrated by men who know not Christ and are deliberately finding every excuse to have multiple sexual partners. I have always said that some of you, no matter the Truth you here from the Scriptures, because your hardened hearts and your arrogance of the kind of life you're leading, you will still look for flimsy excuses, lies and strange analysis to help you still live the wrong and sinful lives you're in. Even if for nothing you should've read the answer Jesus gave to the pharisees. He was clear that in the beginning God made them one man and one woman. Please which woman in this Country or all over the world has been telling you she needs help with regards to a husband? Did our women ask you to pity them that way? Has the women in the world been complaining to you or you're the one speaking for them out your own guilt or strong uncontrolled lust? Even if there happens to be more cars on Earth than humans, it never ever justifies a man who goes robbing companies and people of their cars with the excuse that he is going to dash it to those who do not have. Life is not like that. If you want to keep on remaining in your sins, fine, but don't justify evil with flimsy and wrong analysis. There are many Men for all women, let them choose one each and settle down and stop the sinful lies.

What i gather is that there is no instruction from God against marrying more than one wife. Also Abraham is said to have married Hagar in Genesis 16:3. So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. Lastly even in the New Testament there is no explicit command against polygamy except that someone in a leadership role should be a man of one wife. Now as Christians we should base our understanding on scripture and what God says, not patterns that we see. I’m not advocating polygamy, I’m saying we shouldn’t add to the Bible what is not there.

The words fornication does not mean sex before marriage. It rather means all forms of sexual immoralities; adultery, bestiality, sleeping with a woman in her menses, sodomy and incest. Adultery is not understood by many. In israel, if a man has a consensual sex with an UNMARRIED woman, it wasn't adultery even if the man is MARRIED. The man was suppose to go ahead and marry the woman as per the custom. He will pay 50 shekels(this was a fixed price) for all virgins. But if the father refuses, the man will still pay the fix price but the woman will remain in her father's house. Because her virginity was taken, no man will marry her, so she will be taken as a concubine by another man. This is why concubines were not part of the marital covenenants because they had already shed their hymenal blood on another man. But if a married or unmarried man sleeps with a Married woman. He has committed adultery and will be stoned to death because the woman belonged to another man. Adultery then was not based on the man but on the woman. This is why we often read "adulterous woman" in the scriptures more often. A married man only commits adultery when she sleeps with a married woman. But once a woman is married, no matter who she sleeps with, she has commited adultery. Now, there are other forms of uncleanness that are not necessarily adultery. 1. A man who sleeps with unmarried multiple women and does not marry them intentionally or take them for concubines. 2. A man who sleeps with prostitutes. 3. A woman who was a prostitute. By the way,God forbade temple prostitution because it was linked to gods and idols of the other nations but allowed regular prostitution in Israel. There is a difference bet6temple prostitution and regular prostitution. These were all unclean but were not classified as adultery .

You are learned and are a good teacher,diligent in presenting yourself approved to God,a worker who does not need to be ashamed,rightly dividing the word of truth.The old pastor presented well too except that he doesn't understand the meaning of 'adultry' and fornication.We thank God for your sound mind and deep insight.

I belt if there was another woman on earth at the time of Adam & Eve, Adam would have married that woman in addition. Pastor Otabil forgot that they were only 2 of them on earth. Also, when Sara gave Hagar to Abraham, he accepted the fact that he needed a next of kin so he lay with Hagar and conceived. Why God didn’t tell Abraham that he has sin? Let’s not forget that there’re two sides of every thing and I think we can differentiate “good and bad”.
